Lord Jesus, help me to understand the greatness of your love as you give yourself to us in the Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist.<\/p>\n

Gospel of the day<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0(to guide your meditation)<\/em>
\nFrom the Holy Gospel according to Mark 14:12-16. 22-26<\/p>\n

On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover lamb was being sacrificed, his disciples asked Jesus, \u201cWhere do you want us to go and prepare the Passover meal for you?\u201d He said to two of them, \u201cGo into the city, you will find a man carrying a pitcher of water; follow him and say to the owner of the house where he enters, \u201cThe Master commands to ask: Where is the room where I am going to eat the Passover with my disciples?\u201d He will show you a room upstairs, furnished with couches. Prepare the supper for us there.\u201d The disciples went away, arrived in the city, found what Jesus had told them, and prepared the Passover meal. As they were eating, Jesus took bread, said the blessing, broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, \u201cTake this, this is my body. And he took a cup of wine in his hands, gave thanks, gave it to them, and they all drank, and he said to them, \u201dThis is my blood, the blood of the covenant, which will be shed for all. I tell you the truth, I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until the day I drink the new wine in the kingdom of God. And when they had sung the psalm, they departed for the Mount of Olives.<\/p>\n

Meditate on what God tells you in the Gospel<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

How much do we value the gifts we have been given? Yes, the gifts, those gifts that have been given to us without any merit, or need to deserve them and that are an important part of our lives. If we pause and contemplate our life, we can realize that we possess great gifts, beginning with the gift of life; if we look deeper we can find perhaps, the gift of friendship, or in this case, if we look with the supernatural gaze of love and faith, we will be aware of the greater gift we have received, that is, the gift of the Holy Eucharist, the source and summit of the life of every Christian.<\/p>\n

Before looking at this great gift, we must ask ourselves, how is my Christian life? For the answer we give will determine the value and impact of the Holy Eucharist in our life: is it a practical life, a life of feelings, a dull life, or is it joyful, meaningful, fulfilling, which is good to keep in mind? Because if we have that correct vision, we can see the Holy Eucharist as a great source from which comes a great part of God's grace, that which opens us to love, which gives us fullness, which fills our heart, because when we receive it, we receive Jesus Christ himself, who established it and wanted to give himself to us \u201cTake, this is my body\u201d \u201cThis is my blood\u201d.<\/p>\n

From the Eucharist flows peace, unity and charity and, therefore, it is the culmination of our life as Christians; through its grace, our life reaches its highest point. We can ask ourselves with how much fervor we receive it.<\/p>\n

Let us experience the fruits of this immense gift, let us allow ourselves to be loved and let us love to the point of giving our lives for others, following the example of Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n

\u00abA large room for a small piece of Bread. God makes himself small as a piece of bread and precisely for this reason a large heart is necessary to be able to recognize him, adore him, welcome him. God's presence is so humble, hidden, sometimes invisible, that to be recognized it needs a heart that is ready, awake and welcoming. On the other hand, if our heart, instead of being a large room, resembles a warehouse where we keep our past things with longing; if it resembles an attic where we have long left our enthusiasm and our dreams; if it resembles a narrow room, a dark room because we live only of ourselves, of our problems and our bitterness, then it will be impossible to recognize this silent and humble presence of God. A wide room is required. It is necessary to widen the heart. We need to leave the small room of our self and enter into the great space of wonder and adoration. And we need this very much\u00bb.<\/em>

Propose a personal one. The one that involves the most love in response to the Beloved... or, if you believe that this is what God is asking of you, live what is suggested below.<\/em><\/p>\n
