Pero Jes\u00fas replic\u00f3: \u201cNo saben ustedes lo que piden. \u00bfPodr\u00e1n beber el c\u00e1liz que yo he de beber?\u201d. Ellos contestaron: \u201cS\u00ed podemos\u201d. Y \u00e9l les dijo: \u201cBeber\u00e1n mi c\u00e1liz; pero eso de sentarse a mi derecha o a mi izquierda no me toca a m\u00ed concederlo; es para quien mi Padre lo tiene reservado\u201d. Al o\u00edr aquello, los otros diez disc\u00edpulos se indignaron contra los dos hermanos. Pero Jes\u00fas los llam\u00f3 y les dijo: \u201cYa saben que los jefes de los pueblos los tiranizan y que los grandes los oprimen. Que no sea as\u00ed entre ustedes. El que quiera ser grande entre ustedes, que sea el que los sirva, y el que quiera ser primero, que sea su esclavo; as\u00ed como el Hijo del hombre no ha venido a ser servido, sino a servir y a dar la vida por la redenci\u00f3n de todos\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><em>Word of the Lord.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Meditate on what God tells you in the Gospel<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Es bastante obvio que Santiago y Juan eran ambiciosos. No les bastaba con el honor de estar en el selecto grupo de los Doce. Quer\u00edan ser la mano derecha e izquierda del Maestro. Buscaban lo mejor en este nuevo Reino que Jes\u00fas anunciaba. No hab\u00eda l\u00edmites en su objetivo y le expusieron claramente \u2013por medio de su madre\u2013 aquello que deseaban.<\/p>\n<p>\u00bfQu\u00e9 tipo de ambici\u00f3n es \u00e9sta? \u00bfAcaso buscaban un cargo de honor y poder en el Reino de la humildad y mansedumbre? Tal vez algo s\u00ed; somos humanos y se pueden colar intenciones ego\u00edstas de por medio. O tal vez no, sobre todo si recordamos el primer encuentro con Jes\u00fas. Juan hab\u00eda sido disc\u00edpulo del Bautista, escuch\u00f3 la exclamaci\u00f3n \u00ab\u00a1He aqu\u00ed el Cordero de Dios!\u00bb y sin pensarlo dos veces se adhiri\u00f3 al grupo de seguidores de Jes\u00fas. En ese momento, Jes\u00fas da media vuelta, lo mira y le pregunta: \u00ab\u00bfQu\u00e9 buscas?\u00bb Tal vez, con el paso del tiempo, la b\u00fasqueda segu\u00eda siendo la misma: \u00abMaestro, \u00bfd\u00f3nde vives?\u00bb (Jn 1, 35-39). Un camino de descubrir y encontrarse profundamente con el Salvador, el Maestro, el Amigo.<\/p>\n<p>Es cierto, de todas maneras, Santiago y Juan eran ambiciosos. Por algo se llamaban los \u00abhijos del Trueno\u00bb. Donde caen tienen que hacer ruido y deslumbrar. Y no s\u00f3lo por el temperamento. Seguramente su mismo coraz\u00f3n era como de trueno, que nace de una fricci\u00f3n muy fuerte en las alturas y que conecta el cielo con la tierra. Su mismo amor era como un trueno: \u00a1A los pocos a\u00f1os el resplandor de Santiago llegar\u00eda hasta el extremo del imperio Romano, all\u00e1 por Espa\u00f1a!<\/p>\n<p>La sana ambici\u00f3n es una fuente de energ\u00eda. \u00bfY si nuestra ambici\u00f3n tiene el \u00fanico motivo del amor? Amar m\u00e1s, amar mejor, estar lo m\u00e1s cerca posible del Se\u00f1or. Con esta fuerza como de un trueno, el amor deja de ser una idea bonita pero abstracta. El amor se traduce en beber el c\u00e1liz de la cruz; la ambici\u00f3n se hace carne en el servicio m\u00e1s humilde. Para el que ama de verdad a Cristo, no hay reto demasiado exigente.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00abIr por los caminos siguiendo la \u201clocura\u201d de nuestro Dios que nos ense\u00f1a a encontrarlo en el hambriento, en el sediento, en el desnudo, en el enfermo, en el amigo ca\u00eddo en desgracia, en el que est\u00e1 preso, en el pr\u00f3fugo y el emigrante, en el vecino que est\u00e1 solo. Ir por los caminos de nuestro Dios que nos invita a ser actores pol\u00edticos, pensadores, movilizadores sociales. Que nos incita a pensar en una econom\u00eda m\u00e1s solidaria que esta. En todos los \u00e1mbitos en los que nos encontremos, ese amor de Dios nos invita llevar la Buena Nueva, haciendo de la propia vida una entrega a \u00e9l y a los dem\u00e1s. Esto significa ser valerosos, esto significa ser libres\u00bb.<\/em><br \/>\n<em>(Discurso de S.S.
