They were astonished by his teachings, because he spoke with authority. In the synagogue there was a man possessed by an impure spirit, and he cried out loudly, \u201cLeave us alone! What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are\u2014the Holy One of God!\u201d But Jesus rebuked him, saying, \u201cBe silent and come out of him!\u201d Then the demon threw the man down before them all, and came out of him without hurting him. Everyone was amazed and said to each other, \u201cWhat is this word? For with authority and power he commands the impure spirits, and they come out.\u201d And news of him spread through all the surrounding country.<\/p>\n<p><em>Word of the Lord.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Meditate on what God tells you in the Gospel<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In this Gospel, Jesus reminds us of the power and value of God's name. In ancient times, there was so much respect for God's name that people didn't dare to even say it. The esteem and reverence for God were so great that merely pronouncing His name was touching the divine.<\/p>\n<p>I believe sadly we are very far from that respect and devotion. Today, the name of God seems to lack value. Devotion to the holy name of Jesus sounds so strange that it's not even thought to have existed. But Holy Scripture itself shows us that no miracle was ever performed, by men, without first invoking the name of God, of Jesus.<\/p>\n<p>Why do we demand miracles from God? Why do we complain about his lack of action and presence in our lives when we don't even listen to the request or condition He Himself gave us to be blessed: \u201cWhatever you ask the Father in my name, you will receive\u201d?<\/p>\n<p>Teach us, Jesus, the glory of your name; pour into our hearts the gift of faith so that we may be able to receive all the graces and blessings you have time to bestow upon us.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00abThe transformation of the heart that leads us to confess our sins is a \u201cgift from God.\u201d We cannot do it alone. The ability to confess our sins is a gift from God, it is a present, it is \u201chis work.\u201d Being touched tenderly by his hand and shaped by his grace allows us, therefore, to approach the priest without fear for our faults, but with the certainty of being welcomed by him in God's name and understood despite our miseries; and even without a defense lawyer: we have only one, who gave his life for our sins. It is He who, with the Father, always defends us.<\/em><br \/>\n(Homily of H.H. Francis, March 13, 2015).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Dialogue with Christ<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>This is the most important part of your prayer, prepare yourself to talk with much love with the One who loves you.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Purpose<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>Propose a personal one.
