Preparatory prayer (to put me in the presence of God)
Every moment of this life is a gift. Today I have this one in my hands. I want to live it with all my being. Thank you for this gift, Lord.
Gospel of the day (to guide your meditation)
From the Holy Gospel according to Luke 19:45-48
On that day Jesus entered the temple and began to drive out those who were selling and buying there, saying to them, “It is written: My house is a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves. Jesus taught every day in the temple. For their part, the chief priests, the scribes and the leaders of the people were trying to kill him, but they could not find a way to do it, because all the people were watching his words.
Word of the Lord.
Meditate on what God tells you in the Gospel
The house of the Lord was a house of prayer. Is my house also a house of prayer? I could examine, with what attitude do I live in my house, with what attitude do I live, with an attitude of seeking God, with an attitude of living in truth, with an attitude of honesty, what values do I transmit in my house, what does my person transmit, what direction does my life take, what are the intentions of my heart, what are the intentions of my heart?
To pray is to live in union with God. He is truth, charity, goodness, beauty. One can unite oneself to God by means of words, thoughts, actions. However, the most complete prayer, the most complete union, is the one that is made with all my life, with all my being. And my being begins by manifesting itself through my intentions. Every true intention matures into an action.
I ask for the grace, Lord, to have a heart full of good and true intentions, with great intentions, with high intentions, with intentions that always seek you. And thus my house will also begin to be a house of prayer.
«The leaders of the temple, the chief priests and the scribes had changed things a little. They had entered into a process of degradation and had made the temple impure, they had defiled the temple. This also has something to say to Christians today, because the temple is an icon of the Church. The Church will always - always! - experience the temptation of worldliness and the temptation of a power that is not the power that Jesus Christ wants for her. Jesus does not say: “No, this is not to be done, do it outside”; but “you have made here a den of thieves”. When the Church enters into this process of degradation the end is very ugly. Very ugly!”».
(Homily of H.H. Francis, November 20, 2015, in Santa Marta).
Dialogue with Christ
This is the most important part of your prayer, prepare yourself to talk with much love with the One who loves you.
Purpose
Propose a personal one. The one that involves the most love in response to the Beloved... or, if you believe that this is what God is asking of you, live what is suggested below.
I will pray a Stations of the Cross to unite myself and meet Christ in his passion, seeking to apply what I have meditated in my heart.
Farewell
We thank you, Lord, for all your benefits, you who live and reign forever and ever.
Amen.
Christ, our King!
Thy Kingdom come!
Most prudent Virgin, Mary, Mother of the Church.
Pray for us.
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
