Regnum Christi International

Thy
Kindom
your Kingdom!

Regnum Christi is a reality of the Catholic Church, a spiritual family and an apostolic body, and our mission is to make present the Kingdom of Christ, that is, to make Christ, who is the Kingdom in person, present and reign in our hearts, in the hearts of others and in society.

One family, four vocations, one mission: to make the Kingdom present

WE ARE JOINED BY A
MEETING WITH
LIVING CHRIST WHO
SENDS TO BE YOUR
APOSTLES

We are a family in the Church formed by the Legionaries of Christ, the Consecrated Women of Regnum Christi, the Lay Consecrated Men of Regnum Christi and by lay members.

We come from many different countries and cultures; of many different ages and social circumstances, but we are united by the experience of having been found with Christ -alive!-, and with his love.

So we are his witnesses, and we ardently feel that he calls us to be his apostles: to be with him, to be more his, to collaborate with our lives so that other people may personally encounter him and experience his invincible love that transforms you, makes you his apostle, and gives you the inner joy of knowing that we are made forever because Christ is alive, because he has conquered death, and where he is, we are already participating in eternity.

All this, of course, in the midst of uncertainty, doubt, imperfection, problems, infidelities and blunders... but with the experience of God's love, of His forgiveness, and that nothing, nothing, nothing we can do can separate us from Him.

“Our motto is Christ our King, Thy Kingdom Come!" (EFRC, 13)

This petition expresses the ardent desire to make the Kingdom present - Christ, who is the Kingdom in person - and to live as the first Christian communities:

IN A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST...

... because Christ
is the Kingdom in person.

We want the center of our life to be His love, to love as He loves and the things He loves, being in contact with Him through the Word, the sacraments, the life of prayer, the cross and our neighbor. This is how the desire to share Christ with others, especially with those who have not yet encountered Him, and the permanent attitude of mission that is expressed in the concreteness of life, both on a personal, community and institutional level, are born.

ACCOMPANYING
TO EACH OTHER AND ACCOMPANYING US...

... because alone
we can't.

We accompany one another in the following of Christ from our concrete reality, whatever it may be, seeking to advance on the path to the fullness of our vocation, and supporting one another as true brothers and disciples of Jesus. Jesus himself accompanies us.

SENT,
APOSTLES
IN DEPARTURE...

... because what is not given
is lost.

We live in an apostolic dynamism that is born of an encounter with Christ and his love, which transforms you and moves you to share it with others.

What is in Regnum Christi for me?

What is in Regnum Christi for me?

Origin and evolution

Regnum Christi was born as an ecclesial movement of apostolate with the mission of making the Kingdom of Christ present in the world. Our history began in 1941 with the founding of the Legionaries of Christ, marking the beginning of a charism that has grown in depth and breadth.

Historically, our founder was Marcial Maciel, a Mexican LC priest born in Cotija de la Paz, Michoacán, in 1920. Although he is the historical founder, we do not consider him a role model due to the gravity of his actions, which included abuses and behaviors contrary to the Gospel, which have been recognized and condemned by the Church (on the figure of Marcial Maciel, LC).

In 1968, the first lay groups were formed, made up of lay people who, in different states of life, share the same spirituality and apostolic mission.Over time, the spiritual family of Regnum Christi has grown, integrating married and single lay people, consecrated persons and priests, all united in a single apostolic body.

Over the decades, it has undergone a process of maturation and renewal, with key moments such as the autonomy granted to Consecrated Women and Consecrated Laity in 2012, the formation of the Regnum Christi Federation in 2019 and, more recently, the definitive approval of its Statutes in 2024.
