Dame, Señor, tus oídos para escuchar la voz del Espíritu Santo en esta oración. Dame, Señor, tu Sagrado Corazón para amar como Tú amas y no como yo a duras penas puedo.
Gospel of the day (to guide your meditation)
From the Holy Gospel according to Luke 6:27-38
At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who slander you. To him who strikes you on one cheek, present the other; to him who takes your cloak, let him take your tunic also. Give to him who begs of you, and from him who takes what is yours, do not demand it from him.
Treat others as you would have them treat you; for if you love only those who love you, what are you doing extraordinary? Sinners also love those who love them. If they do good only to those who do good to them, what is so great about it? So do sinners. If they lend only when they expect to be paid, what is extraordinary about them? Sinners also lend to other sinners, with the intention of collecting from them later.
You, on the other hand, love your enemies, do good and lend without expectation of reward. In this way you will have a great reward and you will be children of the Most High, for he is good even to the wicked and ungrateful. Be merciful, as your Father is merciful.
Judge not and you will not be judged; condemn not and you will not be condemned; forgive and you will be forgiven. Give and it will be given to you: you will receive a good measure, well shaken, pressed down and running over in the folds of your robe. For with the same measure with which you measure, you will be measured.”.

Meditate on what God tells you in the Gospel
Aquí se muestra que el amor no es meramente un sentimiento bonito. El amor es muchas veces amargo, pues requiere desear el bien a aquellos que no nos quieren. ¡Qué difícil es aceptar a aquellos que hablan mal de nosotros a nuestras espaldas! ¡Qué difícil es desear la felicidad a los que nos han querido mal, nos han burlado, ignorado, humillado!
Es muy difícil, y es propio de la naturaleza, huir del dolor, acercarse a lo que nos consuela. Pero la lógica de Jesús es diferente. Nuestro espíritu está hecho para alturas mayores, no para reacciones propias de los animales. Jesús nos enseña que con su amor podemos amar a quien nos persigue. Y no hace falta sentir mariposas por nuestro enemigo, lo importante es mirarle con los ojos amorosos de Dios del mismo modo que cada uno lo ha experimentado en su propia carne pecadora.
Siempre podremos justificar nuestro odio, nuestro enfado. Pero Jesús es el primero que nos ha perdonado y quiere que seamos canales de su misericordia para con sus hijos extraviados que en el mundo difunden el odio. San Juan de la Cruz dice que pongamos amor donde no hay amor, y que encontraremos amor.
Amar sin esperar nada a cambio es una locura, pero esta es nuestra fe. Creemos que el Sagrado Corazón de Jesús ama a cada uno sin miedo a ser correspondido con odio, y así nos conquista, y así queremos que ame a través de nosotros.
«Jesús no nos invita a un amor abstracto, etéreo o teórico, redactado en escritorios y para discursos. El camino que nos propone es el que Él recorrió primero, el que lo hizo amar a los que lo traicionaron y juzgaron injustamente, a los que lo habrían matado. Es difícil hablar de reconciliación cuando las heridas causadas en tantos años de desencuentro están todavía frescas o invitar a dar ese paso de perdón que no significa ignorar el dolor o pedir que se pierda la memoria o los ideales. Aun así, Jesús invita a amar y a hacer el bien; que es mucho más que ignorar al que nos hizo daño o hacer el esfuerzo para que no se crucen nuestras vidas: es un mandato a una benevolencia activa, desinteresada y extraordinaria con respecto a quienes nos hirieron. Pero no se queda allí, también nos pide que los bendigamos y oremos por ellos; es decir, que nuestro decir sobre ellos sea un bien-decir, generador de vida y no de muerte, que pronunciemos sus nombres no para el insulto o la venganza sino para inaugurar un nuevo vínculo para la paz. La vara que el Maestro nos propone es alta. Con esta invitación, Jesús quiere clausurar para siempre la práctica tan corriente —de ayer y de hoy— de ser cristianos y vivir bajo la ley del talión.»
