¡Señor Jesús! Me pongo en tu presencia en este día. Creo que estás verdaderamente presente aquí y especialmente en la Eucaristía. Permíteme entrar en tu corazón. Permíteme descubrir el amor que tienes por mí.
Gospel of the day (to guide your meditation)
From the Holy Gospel according to John 5, 31-47
En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a los judíos: “Si yo diera testimonio de mí, mi testimonio no tendría valor; otro es el que da testimonio de mí y yo bien sé que ese testimonio que da de mí, es válido.
You sent messengers to John the Baptist and he bore witness to the truth. It is not that I want to rely on the testimony of a man. If I say this, it is so that you may be saved. John was the lamp that burned and shone, and you wanted to rejoice for a moment in his light. But I have a better testimony than that of John: the works which the Father has granted me to do, and which I do, bear witness to me and accredit me as the one sent by the Father.
The Father, who sent me, has borne witness about me. You have never heard his voice or seen his face, and his word does not dwell in you, because you do not believe him whom he has sent.
You study the Scriptures, thinking that you will find eternal life in them; well, they are the ones that bear witness to me. And you do not want to come to me to have life! I do not seek the glory that comes from men; it is because I know them and I know that the love of God is not in them. I have come in my Father's name and you have not received me. How can it be possible for you to believe that you aspire to receive glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes only from God?
Do not think that I will accuse you before the Father; there is already someone who accuses you: Moses, in whom you have your hope. If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me. But if you do not believe his writings, how can you believe my words?.

Meditate on what God tells you in the Gospel
En una ocasión, en unas misiones urbanas, me encontré con una señora. Ella venía saliendo de trabajar de uno de los edificios cercanos. En una primera impresión, me pareció muy inteligente y de carácter fuerte. Y como todos los demás, tenía mucha prisa. Yo me encontraba en una esquina. Estaba a dos cuadras de una iglesia católica. Invitaba a muchos, pero pocos respondían. Sólo quería que hicieran una visita a Jesús en la Iglesia para encontrarse con Él y consolar su divino corazón. De repente, nos cruzamos. Sí, una señora holandesa, y yo, un simple seminarista de 25 años. La invité a visitar a Jesús. Me miró a los ojos y me dijo que cuando era niña, era católica. Había ido al catecismo en Holanda, pero luego, con el pasar de los años, se alejó de la Iglesia. Ella me miraba y unas lágrimas comenzaron a deslizarse por sus mejillas. Ella estaba en shock. Recordaba su pasado y su presente. Casi acepta la invitación. Al final, decidió no hacer la visita a la Iglesia.
Todavía rezo por aquella mujer, no recuerdo su nombre, pero recuerdo su rostro. De niña había recibido la semilla de la fe y en sus ojos podía ver que sólo le faltaba un pequeño SÍ, como el de María, para abrirse al amor de Dios. Casi lo daba, pero probablemente no era aún el momento. En el Evangelio de hoy, Jesús nos habla de la fe. Y la fe es el primer «sí» a Dios. Jesús nos da testimonio del Padre, pero solamente nos pide una cosa: un pequeño-gran salto de fe. Un salto de fe que nos llevará a escuchar su voz, a ver su rostro y a acoger su palabra. Un salto de fe que se traduce en un «sí» a Jesús. Y un sí a Jesús es un «sí al Padre.
En este momento de oración, pregúntale a Jesús: ¿A dónde me invitas el día de hoy? ¿Cuál es ese «sí» que quieres que te dé?
«Testimonio de Jesús. A este testimonio nos conduce el Espíritu Santo. Hoy el mundo sufre, está herido; vivimos en un mundo muy herido, que sufre, especialmente en los más pobres, que son descartados, cuando todas nuestras seguridades humanas han desaparecido, el mundo necesita que le demos a Jesús. Necesita nuestro testimonio del Evangelio, el Evangelio de Jesús. Ese testimonio solamente lo podemos dar con la fuerza del Espíritu Santo. Necesitamos que el Espíritu nos dé ojos nuevos, abra nuestra mente y nuestro corazón para enfrentar este momento y el futuro con la lección aprendida: somos una sola humanidad. No nos salvamos solos. Nadie se salva solo.»
