Our Father who is with us

Balam Loza, LC

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Christ, our King.
Thy Kingdom come!

Preparatory prayer (to put me in the presence of God)

Lord, I am here. I want to hear your voice within my heart. Yes, your voice is like the morning dew, it passes through every soul, in the silence of prayer, and refreshes it. Like Mary, I place myself at your feet and listen to your every word.

Gospel of the day (to guide your meditation)
From the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew 6, 7-15

At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: “When you pray, do not talk much, like the pagans, who think that if you talk a lot, you will be heard. Do not imitate them, for the Father knows what you need before you ask him. You, therefore, pray like this: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. If you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men, neither will the Father forgive you your trespasses”.

Word of the Lord.

Meditate on what God tells you in the Gospel

«Abba!» Padre, Papito, escúchame. Ve a esta pobre alma que se acerca a ti en el silencio de su corazón. Ve a esta pobre alma que se acerca sin saber qué decir. Que la boca se queda pegada al paladar y sólo puede decir «Abba».

There is no doubt that having a Father by your side at every moment of life is comforting. To know that there is a helping hand that supports and gives security. To know that there is someone I can lean on when my strength fails, someone who never leaves me alone, who is there in good times and bad.

Y sin embargo, qué abandonado estás Padre. A veces me ves e intentas decirme algo. Pero yo paso de largo. Voy a lo mío. Y te quedas con la boca abierta intentando decir algo porque ni te di la palabra, ni te mire, ni te di tiempo.

I see that Father full of illusion for me. That Father who has seen me grow. That Father with whom I spoke without words. I see that Father, who is proud of his son because he has grown and succeeded. I see that Father speaking silently, waiting for someone to listen. Looking off into the distance, waiting for his son.

I see that son, away from the Father's house. I see that son succeeding. I see that son talking in silence. I see that adult son, who has forgotten those hours he has spent with his Father, with his «Daddy».

I see that Father who runs to meet the son who enters the house. And I see that son who allows himself to be embraced by the Father. I see in that silence the strong love that unites Father and son. I see God in this Father and I see myself in this son.

«Jesus wanted to introduce his own into the mystery of Life, into the mystery of his life. He showed them - by eating, sleeping, healing, preaching, praying - what it means to be the Son of God. He invited them to share his life, his intimacy and being with him, he made them touch in his flesh the life of the Father. He made them experience in his gaze, in his gait, the strength, the newness of saying: “Our Father”. In Jesus, this expression, “Our Father” does not have the “little taste” of routine or repetition, on the contrary, it has the flavor of life, of experience, of authenticity. He knew how to live by praying and to pray by living, saying: “Our Father”. And he has invited us to do the same».
(Homilía de S.S. Francisco, 16 de febrero de 2016).

Dialogue with Christ

This is the most important part of your prayer, prepare yourself to talk with much love with the One who loves you.

Purpose

Propose a personal one. The one that involves the most love in response to the Beloved... or, if you believe that this is what God is asking of you, live what is suggested below.

Hoy te ofrezco, Señor, dedicar un momento a hacer oración. Rezaré el Padrenuestro sin prisas y recordaré todo el amor que has tenido por mí.

Farewell

We thank you, Lord, for all your benefits, you who live and reign forever and ever.
Amen.

Christ, our King!
Thy Kingdom come!

Most prudent Virgin, Mary, Mother of the Church.
Pray for us.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
