Ayúdame, Señor, a convertirme en un amigo tuyo para que te sea más difícil negarme algo que te pido. Perdóname las impertinencias que haya hecho, pero Tú conoces mejor que yo cuánto te necesito. Te pido que me concedas una confianza en Ti que me lleve a no parar de pedirte las gracias que necesito.

From the Holy Gospel according to Luke 11:5-13
En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: “Supongan que alguno de ustedes tiene un amigo que viene a medianoche a decirle: ‘Préstame, por favor, tres panes, pues un amigo mío ha venido de viaje y no tengo nada que ofrecerle’. Pero él le responde desde dentro: ‘No me molestes. No puedo levantarme a dártelos, porque la puerta ya está cerrada y mis hijos y yo estamos acostados’. Si el otro sigue tocando, yo les aseguro que, aunque no se levante a dárselos por ser su amigo, sin embargo, por su molesta insistencia, sí se levantará y le dará cuanto necesite.
Así también les digo a ustedes: Pidan y se les dará, busquen y encontrarán, toquen y se les abrirá. Porque quien pide, recibe; quien busca, encuentra y al que toca, se le abre. ¿Habrá entre ustedes algún padre que, cuando su hijo le pida pan, ¿le dé una piedra? ¿O cuando le pida pescado, le dé una víbora? ¿O cuando le pida huevo, le dé un alacrán?
Pues, si ustedes, que son malos, saben dar cosas buenas a sus hijos, ¿cuánto más el Padre celestial les dará el Espíritu Santo a quienes se lo pidan?”.

Meditate on what God tells you in the Gospel
The Christian life is a struggle, in which we face situations in which we must decide what is the best thing to do. Every moment is full of decisions, the time we get up, what we eat, the people we are with, etc. Our life is a crossroads of decisions and, in this context, we can think about what is the best way to decide. What is the best thing to do when our family or loved ones are involved? There are situations that are not easy and push us to limits we cannot imagine. That is where God's grace comes in, which can help us to do what is not easy in our own strength and tells us how God acts in our lives.
Constancy in prayer is another relevant point that is only given if we have the confidence that God will help us, or that He can do something and we need to awaken Him to work. Let us ask God to grant us the grace to see our life as a moment of deciding for what pleases Him the most and to be aware that constancy will be of great help in everything we do.
God knows what we need because He knows our heart and everything that moves us, as a Father He has us under His loving gaze. Who does not want to be by the side of such a kind father?
«Y el mismo Jesús nos enseña la parábola de ese señor que va donde el vecino a pedir pan a medianoche: la perseverancia para llamar a la puerta. O la viuda, con el juez injusto: e insiste e insiste e insiste: es la perseverancia. La fe y la perseverancia van juntas, porque si tienes fe, es seguro que el Señor te dará lo que pidas. Y si el Señor te hace esperar, llama, llama, al final el Señor da la gracia. Pero el Señor no se comporta así para hacerse el interesante o porque piense “mejor que espere”, no. Lo hace por nuestro propio bien, para que tomemos las cosas en serio. Tomar en serio la oración, no como los papagayos: bla, bla, bla, bla, bla y nada más. El mismo Jesús nos reprocha: “No sean como los gentiles que creen en la eficacia de la oración por su mucha palabrería, muchas palabras”. No. Es la perseverancia. Es la fe.»
