Celebrating 50 years of consecrated life is not only to commemorate a special event, but to give thanks to God for a journey of self-giving and love. Luz Elena Mijares Noriega, share your path marked by faith, dedication and the desire to bring Christ to the hearts of all those he encounters. Luz was born on October 22, 1952 in Mexico City to a very practicing Catholic family. Her parents, Francisco Mijares and María Noriega, le instilled a strong faith along with her six siblings. From an early age, Luz was attracted to religious life, especially when she observed the work of the nuns in the Spanish hospital who cared for the sick.
Studied at a nuns' school while his brother Francisco attended Cumbres Lomas, the first school in the Regnum Christi family at the City of Mexico. Since then, the family's knowledge of the charism was increasing. Her mother was a member of the first group of ladies of the Regnum Christi in Mexico City.
Training and primeros pto the consagration
At the age of 12, Luz began to participate in apostolic activities under the guidance of the P. Gregorio López, L.C..who became her spiritual director for a decade. It was with him that Luz discovered the power of prayer and service to others through spiritual retreats and formation activities that marked her vocational path.
Her desire to consecrate herself grew stronger as the years went by. At the age of 15, she wanted to join the religious sisters of the school, but they asked her to wait. After completing her studies in Education, Luz traveled to Ireland in 1974 to perfect her English, not knowing that this trip would change her life forever.

In Ireland, Luz stayed with a family and started to visit the consecrated women of the Regnum Christi who lived in a nearby house. Living with them allowed him to discover clearly that this was the path God was calling him to follow. His decision was confirmed soon after, during a trip to Rome in December 1974, where he attended an ordination to the priesthood. and the opening of the Holy Year with Pope Paul VI.
Consecration and vida de service
Upon returning to Ireland, Luz spoke with Mari Carmen Perochena and P. José Antonio Alonso, L.C., who guided her in her discernment process. After overcoming difficulties such as a phone and mail strike that made it difficult to communicate with his parents in Mexico, he finally received their approval and support to follow his vocation.
On March 29, 1975, during the Easter Vigil of that Holy Year, Luz was consecrated to God in the Regnum Christi. It was the beginning of a journey full of challenges, joys and moments of profound spiritual growth. During these 50 years, Luz has dedicated her life to the formation of young people and adults in the faith, helping them to discover their vocation and to live it with joy and commitment.
