Christ, our King.
Thy Kingdom come!
Preparatory prayer (to put me in the presence of God)
I am here Jesus, I want to know You more, I want to love You more, I need You but I do not know how to approach You. Teach me to pray, teach me to love you, take my littleness and my misery and make me a new being.
Gospel of the day (to guide your meditation)
From the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew 10:17-22
At that time, Jesus said to his apostles: “Beware of the people, for they will bring you before the courts, they will scourge you in the synagogues, they will bring you before governors and kings for my sake; so you will bear witness of me before them and before the heathen. But, when they deliver you up, do not worry about what you are going to say or how you are going to say it, for, at that time you will be inspired with what you are to say. For it is not you who will speak, but the Spirit of your Father who will speak for you. The brother will hand over his brother to death, and the father his son; the children will rise up against their parents and kill them; they will all hate you for my sake, but he who endures to the end will be saved”.
Word of the Lord.
Meditate on what God tells you in the Gospel
«It will not be you who will speak, but the Spirit of your Father who will speak for you.».
Every day we are presented with problems or situations in which we know with certainty that the solution would be in putting Christ. That is to say, some family problem in which we cannot find the solution, some illness, some existential crisis, etc.
We know that the answer is in Christ because we have experienced Him in our own flesh. But even though we know this, we do not dare to talk about Him, what will they think, what will they say, how do I tell them?
Our life as believers, in order to be truly coherent and fulfilled, must be guided by the Holy Spirit. Yes, we cannot lead this life that is so globalized, stressful and far from God, without the help of God himself, in the person of the Holy Spirit.
He will guide us along the way, He will open the doors, He will lead us along the path that the Lord has prepared for us. We cannot pretend to go against the current alone, because the current will end up dragging us down. We need his strength, and if we feel weak and that we cannot, it is a good sign, because it is the moment to recognize that we need God.
Help us, Holy Spirit, to have a true relationship of friendship with you. In the moments of making serious decisions, may we know how to consult you and thus discover God's will in the concrete and everyday of our lives. May you be our companion and guide. In the silence of prayer, may we know how to listen to your voice. May you yourself be the one who lives in us and loves others.
«Today we often experience a «spiritual desertification». Especially where people live as if God did not exist, our Christian communities are called to be “pitchers” that quench thirst with hope, presences capable of inspiring fraternity, encounter, solidarity, genuine and disinterested love; they must welcome and enliven the grace of God, so as not to close in on themselves and open themselves to the mission. It is not possible, in fact, to communicate the faith by living it in isolation or in closed and separate groups, in a kind of false autonomy and communitarian immanentism. This is not the way to respond to the thirst for God that questions us and that is also present in so many new forms of religiosity.
(Address of H.H. Francis, June 10, 2016).
Dialogue with Christ
This is the most important part of your prayer, prepare yourself to talk with much love with the One who loves you.
Purpose
Propose a personal one. The one that involves the most love in response to the Beloved... or, if you believe that this is what God is asking of you, live what is suggested below.
Ask myself at least once a day, what is God asking me through the Holy Spirit in the concrete of my day's journey.
Farewell
We thank you, Lord, for all your benefits, you who live and reign forever and ever.
Amen.
Christ, our King!
Thy Kingdom come!
Most prudent Virgin, Mary, Mother of the Church.
Pray for us.
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
