The Lord's Prayer: The Lord's Prayer (I)

We recommend that you read, before watching and listening to the retreat “The Lord's Prayer: The Lord's Prayer (I)”, guidelines for making a spiritual retreat, suggested by the Regnum Christi Resource Center.
First thought
“So, one day, they waited for Jesus to finish praying in a secluded place, and then they asked him, «Lord, teach us to pray» (v.1). In response to the disciples“ explicit question, Jesus doesn't give an abstract definition of prayer, nor does he teach an effective technique for praying and ”getting” something. Instead, he invites his followers to experience prayer, putting them directly in communication with the Father, awakening in them the longing for a personal relationship with God, with the Father. This is the novelty of Christian prayer! It is a dialogue between people who love each other, a dialogue based on trust, sustained by listening, and open to solidarity. It is a dialogue of the Son with the Father, a dialogue among the children and the Father. This is Christian prayer.” (H.H. Francis, Angelus July 28, 2019).
Second thought
“It is an act of faith in me, who am small, a sinner, in need. And for that reason, prayer to ask for something is very noble. God is the Father who has immense compassion for us and wants his children to speak to him without fear, directly calling him «Father»; or in difficulties saying: «But Lord, what have you done to me?». For that, we can tell him everything, even the things in our life that seem twisted and incomprehensible. And He promised us that He would be with us forever, until the last of the days we spend on this earth. Let us pray the Our Father, beginning thus, simply: «Father» or «Dad». And He understands us and loves us so much.” (H.H. Francis, Angelus July 28, 2019).
