John Connor, L.C., temporarily delegates the general government of the Legion to Fr.

Fr. John Connor, L.C., director general of the Legionaries of Christ since 2020, has communicated his decision to temporarily delegate the general government of the Congregation due to a health situation that requires specialized care and rest.

In a letter addressed to all Legionaries of Christ, John explained that, in recent years, he has experienced significant fatigue linked to a diagnosis of a neurodegenerative disease called Primary Progressive Apraxia of Speech. Despite making adjustments to his work schedule and delegating various responsibilities, his doctors have recommended that he take a break to undergo further medical studies and focus on his recovery.

In accordance with the Constitutions of the Congregation, Fr. John has delegated the exercise of authority to Fr. Hernan Jimenez, L.C., Vicar General, in whom he has full confidence to guide the Legion of Christ with the support of the General Council. This delegation has a deadline of September 1, 2025, although it could be modified depending on the evolution of his health.

In a message to all Regnum Christi members, John, the General Council expressed its support for this decision, recognizing that it is an act of responsibility and discernment. During this period, Father Hernán will also assume, on a temporary basis, Father John's participation in the General Board of Directors.

The spiritual family of Regnum Christi invites everyone to accompany Fr. John with prayer and affection during this time of care and recovery.
