Thy Kingdom come!
Preparatory prayer (to put me in the presence of God)
It is enough for me to be in your presence, Lord... There are many things in my head, the noise of my day... It doesn't matter, I just want to be in your presence.
Gospel of the day (to guide your meditation)
From the Holy Gospel according to John 15:18-21
At that time Jesus said to his disciples: “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but the world hates you because you are not of the world, for in choosing you, I have separated you from the world. Remember what I said to you: ‘The servant is not superior to his master’. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you, and if they have heeded my words, they will heed yours. All this they will do to you for my sake, for you do not know him who sent me.”.
Word of the Lord.
Meditate on what God tells you in the Gospel
The beautiful things in life spontaneously invite us to look up..., to take a look at the sky. A song, a moment, a landscape, a memory, often take our breath away; they leave our thoughts blank and make us long for a «I don't know what» that we would like to obtain.
On the other hand, things that are not so beautiful steal a cry from us..., they sow doubts and we express: why is this happening!
In both situations something deep inside us seeks to take flight. What would joy be if there is no one to share it with? What would be the meaning of pain if there were no one to comfort it, to heal it?
What would life be without the hope of possessing that «I don't know what» that one desires... What would it be, Lord?
Thank you, Lord, for this spontaneous invitation to look at the sky. For allowing me to admire the beauty of this world that leads me to ask myself: if this is beautiful, how beautiful will You be?
Thank you, also, for allowing me to experience pain because, in the same way, it makes me ask myself: if the pain is so great, how much will not be the consolation that you want to give me?
Finally, thank you for having «separated me from the world», I am here but I am not from here. I am here but I am from you... The «I don't know what» of my life without a doubt... is You.
«To the Virgin Mary, Gate of Heaven, let us ask her to help us take advantage of the occasions that the Lord offers us to cross the threshold of the door of faith and thus enter a broad way: it is the way of salvation capable of welcoming all those who allow themselves to be included by love. It is the love that saves, the love that already on earth is the source of beatitude for those who, in meekness, patience and justice, forget themselves and give themselves to others, especially the weakest».
(Angelus of H.H. Francis, August 21, 2016).
Dialogue with Christ
This is the most important part of your prayer, prepare yourself to talk with much love with the One who loves you.
Purpose
Propose a personal one. The one that implies the most love in response to the Beloved... or, if you believe that this is what God is asking of you, live what is suggested below.
In a moment of prayer, ask myself: what do I desire most in my life? See if God is in that desire.
Farewell
We thank you, Lord, for all your benefits, you who live and reign forever and ever.
Amen.
Christ, our King!
Thy Kingdom come!
Most prudent Virgin, Mary, Mother of the Church.
Pray for us.
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
