Thy Kingdom come!
Preparatory prayer (to put me in the presence of God)
I praise you, Lord, and I bless you because you are the God of life, because you are powerful and you have overcome all darkness in me and in every corner of the world. Thank you that evil does not have the last word and now I can follow you in joy, gladness and have life in abundance. I believe in you, I welcome all the gifts that come with your Resurrection, I trust that their effects will come alive in me. I love you and I want to live you alive.
Gospel of the day (to guide your meditation)
From the Holy Gospel according to John 20:1-9
On the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb at dawn, while it was still dark, and saw the stone removed from the tomb. She ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and said to him, “They have taken away the Lord from the tomb and we do not know where they have laid him.” So Peter and the other disciple went out on the way to the tomb. The two ran together, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter; and he went on ahead and came first to the tomb, and peering in, he saw the linen cloths on the ground, but he did not go in. Simon Peter also came up behind him and entered the tomb. And he saw the linen cloths on the ground, and the shroud with which they had covered his head, not lying on the ground with the linen cloths, but rolled up in a place by itself. Then the other disciple also went in, the one who had come first to the tomb; he saw and believed. For until then he had not understood the scripture, that he was to rise from the dead.
Word of the Lord.
Meditate on what God tells you in the Gospel
Every word written in the Gospel has a reason for being, find deep meanings that unify your salvation story. Open my mind to understand the depth that is in a single sentence.
“The first day of the week”
It reminds me of the time of creation when “the earth was chaos and confusion: darkness covered the deep, and a wind from God fluttered over the waters. God said: ‘There is light‘, and there was light” (Gn 1, 2-3).
Such is the day of our re-creation, redemption. Your resurrection is that light that is made in the midst of darkness. Of mine! Your presence, when I make room for you, dispels all chaos and confusion.
The question arises: How to receive your resurrection?
On the first day of creation, nothing existed; God's word was enough for there to be light. In my life I want it to be the same, to let that word resound full of authority: “let there be light”. So, more than doing anything, open my eyes to realize the light that you put in my life.
Let me, like the apostles, see and believe. When I wake up in a house like the one I have, to see and believe that it is you in your Providence. When I experience peace after a day of dedication, work and fatigue, see and believe that this peace comes from you, who accompanies me. When I am able to live in charity of thought, word and deed, to see and believe that this is your life in me. When I can enjoy the simplest things in life, see and believe that this is the life you give me.
This Easter, Come, be my light! Re-believe me. Let me see and believe.
«The words we really want to hear at this time are not indifference, selfishness, division and forgetfulness. We want to suppress them forever! Those words seem to prevail when fear and death triumph in us; that is, when we do not let the Lord Jesus triumph in our hearts and in our lives. May He, who has already conquered death by opening for us the way to eternal salvation, dispel the darkness of our poor humanity and introduce us into his glorious day that knows no sunset. (H.H. Francis, Urbi et Orbi Message of 2020).
Dialogue with Christ
This is the most important part of your prayer, prepare yourself to talk with much love with the One who loves you.
Purpose
Propose a personal one. The one that involves the most love in response to the Beloved... or, if you believe that this is what God is asking of you, live what is suggested below.
Today, discover those flashes of light in your life. Gifts that God gives you, where you can recognize Him alive.
Farewell
We thank you, Lord, for all your benefits, you who live and reign forever and ever.
Amen.
