The day and time, who knows?

Alexis Federico Montiel Sánchez, LC

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Christ, our King.
Thy Kingdom come!

Preparatory prayer (to put me in the presence of God)

Lord, may I know, full of confidence, to await your next coming.

Gospel of the day (to guide your meditation)
From the Holy Gospel according to Mark 13:24-32

At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: “When those days come, after the great tribulation, the light of the sun will go out, the moon will not shine, the stars will fall from heaven and the whole universe will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds with great power and majesty. And he will send his angels to gather his elect from the four corners of the earth and from the depths of the earth to the heights of heaven. Understand this by the example of the fig tree: When the branches become tender and the leaves sprout, you know that summer is near. So also, when you see these things happening, know that the end is near, it is at the door. Truly, this generation will not pass without all this being fulfilled. Heaven and earth may cease to exist, but my words will not cease to be fulfilled. No one knows the day or the hour. Neither the angels of heaven nor the Son, but only the Father”.

Word of the Lord

Meditate on what God tells you in the Gospel

One week before the Solemnity of our Lord Jesus Christ King of the Universe, the Church introduces us to this mystery with a Gospel that often seems to instill fear or that there is still a long time to go before it happens.

There is a saying that goes, “He who owes nothing, fears nothing.” It is very true, but very poor at the same time. A more Christian view would say “he who has given everything, has made every effort and has done his duty, waits anxiously and impatiently for the call of his Lord to say to him with joy and enthusiasm: come in to the joy of your Lord.” So why does this Gospel come up?

Lord, You ask me this day to stop waiting like a man and to start waiting like a child who waits for his father to be happy for the good grade he got, for something he did for him; to wait with the same illusion of seeing my father's face telling me: “I love you, I am very proud, I am glad you did well”.

I must wait like a child, not calling on the phone, not looking for locations in social networks or other media, not making calculations... simply waiting with full trust in God's hands.

«To be attentive and vigilant are the premises for not continuing to “wander outside the ways of the Lord”, lost in our sins and our infidelities; to be attentive and alert, are the conditions for allowing God to break into our lives, to restore meaning and value to them with his presence full of goodness and tenderness. May Mary Most Holy, model of waiting for God and icon of vigilance, guide us towards her Son Jesus, rekindling our love for Him».
(Angelus of H.H. Francis, December 3, 2017).

Dialogue with Christ

This is the most important part of your prayer, prepare yourself to talk with much love with the One who loves you.

Purpose

Propose a personal one. The one that involves the most love in response to the Beloved... or, if you believe that this is what God is asking of you, live what is suggested below.

I will prepare my heart for the Solemnity of Christ the King, seeing what are the attitudes and ways in which I will wait for the Lord.

Farewell

Christ, our King!
Thy Kingdom come!

Most prudent Virgin, Mary, Mother of the Church.
Pray for us.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
