In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Christ, our King, Thy Kingdom come!
Preparatory prayer (to put me in the presence of God)
Thank you, eternal Father, because you love me and never tire of knocking at the door of my heart.
Gospel of the day (to guide your meditation)
From the Holy Gospel according to John 3:31-36
“He who comes from above is above all; but he who comes from the earth belongs to the earth and speaks of the things of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all. He testifies of what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony. He who accepts his testimony certifies that God is true. He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, because God has given him his Spirit without measure.
The Father loves his Son and has placed everything in his hands. He who believes in the Son has eternal life. But he who is rebellious against the Son will not see life, because the divine wrath endures against him.”.
Word of the Lord.
Meditate on what God tells you in the Gospel
Today Jesus reminds us that, although he is man, he is also God. A mystery of love! God becomes one of us and comes to reveal to us, in human words, realities which, without Him, we would not be able to know. Without a doubt, the most beautiful reality revealed to us by Jesus is that we are loved by God and, as if this were not enough, he reveals to us, in the same way, that God is Father and we are his beloved children. Let us not allow this to cease to surprise us!
Let us absolutely avoid the temptation to believe that God the Father is evil when we see how he has allowed his Son to die. Jesus' life was always oriented to show people how much God the Father loves us and it was precisely this that prompted him to give his life for us. It is because the Father's love has no limits and knows no end that the Son was resurrected and glorified, so that we might see and believe in the message of eternal life and everlasting love that he came to reveal to us in word and deed. God the Father loves us without limits and yet is willing to respect our freedom and not be reciprocated: Who am I Lord that you should give your life for me? Who am I that I should turn your back on you? Who am I that you should forgive me as many times as necessary? Thank you, holy Father, for you love me!
You and I have this message of eternal life and everlasting love that urges us to transmit. May our life be a testimony of his paternal love and may we remember that «what the heart is full of, the mouth speaks».»
«Let there be no one who willfully hinders the work that the Lord is doing at this time, and let us ask for the gift of humility in service so that He may increase and we may decrease.»
(Speech of H.H. Francis, December 21, 2020).
