Thy Kingdom come!
Preparatory prayer (to put me in the presence of God)
Lord, give me the grace to be with you.
Gospel of the day (to guide your meditation)
From the Holy Gospel according to Luke 11:14-23
At that time Jesus cast out a demon, who was mute. As soon as the demon had gone out, the dumb man spoke, and the crowd was amazed. But some said, “This man casts out demons with the power of Beelzebub, the prince of demons”. Others, to test him, asked him for a miraculous sign. But Jesus, who knew their evil intentions, said to them, “Every kingdom divided by internal strife goes to ruin and collapses house by house. If Satan is also divided against himself, how will he maintain his kingdom? You say that I cast out demons by the power of Beelzebub. Then, by whose power do your children cast them out? Therefore, they themselves will be your judges. But if I cast out demons by the power of God, it means that the Kingdom of God has come to you. When a strong and well-armed man guards his palace, his goods are safe; but if another stronger man assaults him and defeats him, then he takes away the weapons in which he trusted and then disposes of his goods. He who is not with me is against me; and he who does not gather with me scatters”.
Word of the Lord.
Meditate on what God tells you in the Gospel
A few years ago a colleague was teaching me how to weld. Everything was easy when he was there, the metals were joined and my eyes were fine, but when I was left alone, it was impossible for me to weld the metals and my eyes burned a lot. Jesus tells us that whoever is not with Him in the gathering scatters the harvest. This reminds me of how I needed my brother to be able to weld well, I needed my mentor.
Christ is my mentor and my welds are my Christian works, because I cannot do works of charity without Christ, I will never be able to do them if my heart is far from God. There is a truth that should fill me with confidence and that is that Christ, my mentor, will never abandon me, that Christ will always be with me, and this awareness will help me not to scatter in the harvest, not to fail in loving.
Not that love like that of the Pharisees who thought they could do everything for God without needing Him. That is why they could not see God, they could not see Jesus for what He is, the mentor of love, my God, our God. Let us be ones who walk with Him, who love with Him, who are Christians only with Him.
This Lent let us let our hearts be prepared for God with the help of his company, may He and only He teach us to love with our Christian deeds. Let us allow the mentor of love to transform our hearts.
«Jesus was close to the people, he was in the midst of the people and the people themselves did not let him leave. The Lord was not allergic to people: touching lepers, the sick did not repulse him. And this being close to people, gives authority. The comparison with the doctors, scribes and priests is evident: these were far from the people, in their heart they despised the people, the poor people, ignorant, they loved to distinguish themselves, walking “n the squares well dressed, with the robe of luxury. They had a clerical psychology: they taught with a clerical authority. Jesus, on the other hand, was very close to the people and that gave him authority».
(Homily of H.H. Francis, January 10, 2017, in Santa Marta).
Dialogue with Christ
This is the most important part of your prayer, prepare yourself to talk with much love with the One who loves you.
Purpose
Propose a personal one. The one that involves the most love in response to the Beloved... or, if you believe that this is what God is asking of you, live what is suggested below.
Today I will do a work of charity with the awareness that Christ is with me.
Farewell
We thank you, Lord, for all your benefits, you who live and reign forever and ever.
Amen.
Christ, our King!
Thy Kingdom come!
