Gospel of the day (to guide your meditation)
From the Holy Gospel according to Luke 21:20-28
At that time, Jesus said to his disciples, “When you see Jerusalem besieged by an army, know that its destruction is near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains; let those who are in the city depart from it; let those who are in the country not return to the city; for those days will be days of punishment, that all that is written may be fulfilled. Woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are giving birth in those days! For a great calamity will come upon the land, and the punishment of God will be visited upon this people. They will fall by the edge of the sword, they will be led captive to all nations, and Jerusalem will be trampled down by the heathen, until the time that God has appointed for them is fulfilled. There will be wondrous signs in the sun, the moon and the stars. On earth, the nations will be filled with anguish and fear because of the roaring of the waves of the sea. People will die in terror and anxious expectation of the things that will come upon the world, for even the stars will wobble. Then they will see the Son of man coming in a cloud, with great power and majesty. When these things begin to take place, pay attention and lift up your heads, for the hour of your deliverance is at hand.”.
Word of the Lord
Meditate on what God tells you in the Gospel
The Gospel of the day invites you to trust in God in difficult times. Many times it seems that all is lost and that is when despair begins to gain ground by implanting fear and distrust; it is enough to remember that phrase that says: “after the storm comes the calm”.
Certainly we see that the world is convulsing and that there is no remedy for the imminent destruction of the planet, of the family - the nucleus of all society -, of moral values, of reason - how many countries we see that instead of helping people do not accept them; likewise, they create laws that recognize their deviations as legal, etc.; in short, we see a world that has no remedy and that is on its way to its own destruction.
But in spite of how bad the picture looks, Jesus assures us that liberation is near; free we shall soon be free to fly the banners of Truth, Love, Peace and Justice; free to walk in holiness; free to attain happiness in fullness.
May St. Joseph and the Virgin Mary guide us in this valley of tears so that, together with them, you may reach the freedom that God promises.
«The Gospel, which in time of trials gives strength and soul to the struggle for liberation, in the time of freedom is light for the daily journey of individuals, families, societies and is the salt that gives flavor to ordinary life and preserves it from the corruption of mediocrity and selfishness.».
(H.H. Francis, homily of September 26, 2018).
Dialogue with Christ
This is the most important part of your prayer, prepare yourself to talk with much love with the One who loves you.
Purpose
Propose a personal one. The one that involves the most love in response to the Beloved... or, if you believe that this is what God is asking of you, live what is suggested below.
I will try to express myself by speaking well of others.
Farewell
Christ, our King!
Thy Kingdom come!
Most prudent Virgin, Mary, Mother of the Church.
