A mother's love

H. Francisco J. Posada, L.C.
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Christ, our King, Thy Kingdom come!

Preparatory prayer (to put me in the presence of God)
I want to feel you close to me, Lord. I want to learn to see You with other eyes that can reveal to me how important You are to me. Forgive me for the times when I have not listened to You and have preferred other things to You. Open my eyes to see what You see and feel what You feel.

Gospel of the day (to guide your meditation)
From the Holy Gospel according to Luke 13:31-35
At that time some Pharisees came to Jesus and said to him, “Go away from here, for Herod wants to kill you.”.
He said to them, “Go and tell that fox that I will go on casting out demons and performing cures today and tomorrow, and that on the third day I will finish my work. But today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow I must go on my way, for it is not fitting for a prophet to die outside Jerusalem.
Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills and stones the prophets whom God sends you! How often have I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you have refused!
So your house will be forsaken. I tell you, you will not see me again until the day when you say, ‘I will not see you again.‘Blessed is he who comes in the Lord's namer'”.
Word of the Lord.

Meditate on what God tells you in the Gospel
Christ confronts a city that has not deeply recognized his love; they know that they are special, but, many times, they forget about God because of the things he gives them, which distract them from what is important, to focus on the person. Christ wants them to experience his love as St. Paul experienced it, who went so far as to say: «What will separate us from the love of Christ?» He felt loved by a person who understood him, who made him the ideal of an all-powerful God, made to his measure by love.
A person with whom you can relate, talk, laugh, cry. God's love becomes so personal that it can be compared to that of a mother who wants to gather her children around her, to have them close and to be able to hug and kiss them. The love of a mother, or a woman, is a window to the infinite love of God.
Christ is saddened when someone does not accept this love, does not understand it or ignores it. This heart that has done nothing but love in return receives indifference, as Christ said to St. Faustina: «At least you love me.» A person who does not understand love cannot be faithful because he lacks that element to be always attentive to the beloved. And he leaves room for other things to enter his heart and the important person is pushed aside inside his heart. We can only ask ourselves if we have accepted the love that comes from God as a personal and real love.

«The gratuitous love that inspires gestures of service to those in need is not only the leaven, but also the fragrance of freshly baked bread. It attracts and convinces. Young people in particular need to feel this fragrance, because in many cases it is lacking in their daily experience. In a world where selfishness and division abound precisely the noble taste for unconditional love serves as an antidote and opens the way to the transcendent meaning of our existence.»
(Homily of H.H. Francis, November 8, 2019).

Dialogue with Christ
This is the most important part of your prayer, prepare yourself to talk with much love with the One who loves you.

Purpose
Propose a personal one. The one that involves the most love in response to the Beloved... or, if you believe that this is what God is asking of you, live what is suggested below.
Greet someone I meet on the street and ask how he or she is doing, taking an interest in him or her.
Farewell
We thank You, Lord, for all Your benefits, You who live and reign forever and ever.
Amen.

Christ, our King!
Thy Kingdom come!

Most prudent Virgin, Mary, Mother of the Church.
Pray for us.
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
