Preparatory prayer (to put me in the presence of God)

Grant me the power to seek you with all my heart.

Gospel of the day (to guide your meditation)
From the Holy Gospel according to John 20:11-18

On the day of resurrection, Mary remained weeping by Jesus“ tomb. Continuing to weep, she looked into the tomb and saw two angels clothed in white, seated where Jesus” body had been, one at the head and the other at the feet. The angels asked her, “Why are you weeping, woman?” She answered them, “Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.” Having said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not know it was Jesus. Then he said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” Thinking he was the gardener, she replied, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him.” Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned and exclaimed, ‘Rabboni!’ which in Hebrew means “teacher.‘ Jesus said to her, ’Do not hold me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go to my brothers and say to them, “I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.“” Mary Magdalene went to the disciples and announced, "I have seen the Lord!" and told them what Jesus had said to her.

Word of the Lord.

Meditate on what God tells you in the Gospel

Today's Gospel shows you that the encounter with the Risen Christ transforms tears into joy. For this to happen, you must seek Christ as Mary Magdalene did. Jesus knew she was seeking Him, that's why He approached, hoping she would turn her eyes to Him, and the moment she saw Him, He asked her, "Whom do you seek?"

Jesus is directing this question to you, wanting you to look into your heart and answer; it is easy to reply, “I seek you, Lord,” but there's a possibility that you are seeking yourself or someone else. Nevertheless, Jesus draws near so that you may have the opportunity to see and recognize Him, and like Mary, be filled with joy and be able to say “Rabboni!” the moment you hear Him say your name, either in your heart or audibly.

Do not be afraid to ask yourself who you are looking for, for Jesus is by your side, waiting for your gaze to meet His. May you, like Mary Magdalene, who was the first to announce the kerygma (Good News), be able to say like the first Christians: Christ has risen!, and hear: He has truly risen!

«How beautiful it is to think that the first appearance of the Risen One – according to the Gospels – happened in such a personal way! That there is someone who knows us, who sees our suffering and disappointment, who is moved by us, and who calls us by our name.
(SS Francisco, Audiencia, May 17, 2017).

Dialogue with Christ

This is the most important part of your prayer, prepare yourself to talk with much love with the One who loves you.

Purpose

Propose a personal one. The one that involves the most love in response to the Beloved... or, if you believe that this is what God is asking of you, live what is suggested below.

Today I will smile at everyone I meet to show the joy I feel because Jesus has resurrected.

Farewell

We thank you, Lord, for all your benefits, you who live and reign forever and ever.
Amen.

Christ, our King!
Thy Kingdom come!

Most prudent Virgin, Mary, Mother of the Church.
Pray for us.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
