Amen.

Christ, our King.
Thy Kingdom come!

Preparatory prayer (to put me in the presence of God)

My Lord and my God, here I am at your feet to praise you. I want to be all yours and offer you all that I am. Here I am, tell me what you want from me, show me the path you have marked out for me to become happy. Sometimes I go looking everywhere for the source of happiness, but no matter how much I go up and down searching for it, I will only find it here. That is why I come to your feet so that you may give me the water that will quench the deep thirst of my heart.

Gospel of the day (to guide your meditation)
From the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew 13:36-43

At that time Jesus dismissed the crowd and went home. Then his disciples came to him and said, “Explain to us the parable of the tares sown in the field”. Jesus answered them, “The sower of the good seed is the Son of man; the field is the world; the good seed are the citizens of the Kingdom; the tares are the supporters of the evil one; the enemy who sows them is the devil; the time of harvest is the end of the world, and the reapers are the angels. And as they gather the tares and burn them in the fire, so shall it be at the end of the world: the Son of man shall send his angels to pluck up out of his kingdom all those who lead others into sin and all the wicked, and cast them into the burning furnace. There will be weeping and despair. Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the Kingdom of their Father. He that hath ears, let him hear.”.

Word of the Lord.

Meditate on what God tells you in the Gospel

“Then his disciples came to him and said to him: “Explain to us the parable (...)” Jesus, I come here so that you may explain my life to me; sometimes I do not understand it and trying to understand it I realize that I do not succeed. Sometimes I cried for things that I would not have liked to happen, and some time later, I realize that this event has marked the course of my life. On the other hand, there are decisions that may not have been the most appropriate.

Jesus, You have placed the seed of my life in this world, in a family and with a very concrete history. You have loved me from all eternity and created me with the same love. Today I want to sit here and contemplate my life with your eyes. Today I do not want to complain about anything, I do not want to cry or regret anything. I want to be grateful for so much love and mercy. Today I want to contemplate that sower who puts the seed in the field. That sower is You, who has given me life. You have put all your love and tireless work preparing the field in which the seed of my life was to fall. And with that same love you have given me life and cared for me.

Little by little I have been forgetting you, I have been moving away from your love and I have sought it elsewhere. I have let in tares and sin. I have neglected the field you have entrusted to me and I have even criticized it. But your loving gaze has never changed. What do you see in me? What do you want from me? I realize that only you are the one who can show me the way to true happiness, for you are the one who has loved me eternally and who, no matter how much I may offend you, will never forget me.

Jesus, thank you for giving me life, for loving me and for wanting my happiness.

«Once I heard something said in a neighborhood: ‘I don't go to church because look at this one, she goes to mass every morning, receives communion and then goes whispering from house to house: to be a Christian like that, I'd rather not go, like this gossip’. In my land, these people are called ‘cizañeras’: they sow tares, they divide, and the divisions begin with the tongue because of envy, jealousy and also because of closed-mindedness that leads to the sentence: no, the doctrine is this, and blah, blah, blah. Let us remember the apostle James, in the third chapter of his letter, he says: “We are able to put the bridle in the horse's mouth. Also a ship, with a small rudder, can be guided, and we, can we not master the tongue?”, because the tongue, writes James, “is a small member, but it boasts of doing great things”. And it is true, the tongue is capable of destroying a family, a community, a society; of sowing hatred and wars, envy».
(Cf. Homily of His Holiness Francis, May 12, 2016, in Santa Marta).

Dialogue with Christ

This is the most important part of your prayer, prepare yourself to talk with much love with the One who loves you.

Purpose

Propose a personal one. The one that involves the most love in response to the Beloved... or, if you believe that this is what God is asking of you, live what is suggested below.

Today, Jesus, I will pray a rosary to give thanks for the gift of life and family. I will place all that I am and all that I have in your hands.

Farewell

We thank you, Lord, for all your benefits, you who live and reign forever and ever.
Amen.

Christ, our King!
Thy Kingdom come!

Most prudent Virgin, Mary, Mother of the Church.
Pray for us.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
