Gracias, Dios mío, por el don de la vida. Gracias por permitirme entrar en tu presencia y estar a tu lado. Necesito de Ti, Señor. Mira que mi vida sin Ti carece de sentido. Aumenta mi fe para que te sepa descubrir en todos los momentos de mi vida. Acrecienta mi confianza para que no me deje seducir por cosas efímeras, que se acaban, que defraudan. Foguea mi amor para que te ame siempre con más pasión y pueda así ser un apóstol infatigable de tu Reino.

From the Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew 5, 20-26
At that time, Jesus said to his disciples: “Truly I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.
You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not kill, and he who kills shall be brought before the judgment seat. But I say to you, everyone who is angry with his brother shall also be brought before the judgment seat, and he who insults his brother shall be brought before the supreme judgment seat, and he who despises him shall be brought to the fire of the place of punishment.
If, therefore, when you are about to place your offering on the altar, you remember right there that your brother has a complaint against you, leave your offering by the altar and go first to be reconciled with your brother, and then return to present your offering.
Make up quickly with your adversary, as you go with him on the road; lest he turn you over to the judge, the judge to the policeman, and you be thrown into prison. I assure you that you will not get out of there until you have paid the last penny.

Meditate on what God tells you in the Gospel
Hoy me hablas del perdón y la reconciliación. Es de verdad importante para el seguidor tuyo aprender a perdonar y, sobre todo, a pedir perdón.
Pedir perdón es muestra de humildad ya que implica reconocer el error y, en cierta medida, rebajarse al otro y pedir algo que se necesita de él. El perdón cristiano es el que he podido aprender de Ti, un perdón humilde, sencillo, generoso, sin importar el tamaño de las ofensas, que no mide el pecado sino que mide el amor.
Pedir perdón al hermano es más fundamental antes de presentarse de nuevo ante Ti. Es como aquellos hermanos que pelean pero luego, ante la presencia de los padres, se piden perdón y se reconcilian.
En este pasaje me invitas al perdón, a olvidar los rencores, a dar el primer paso antes aquellas ofensas del pasado que nadie se ha atrevido a perdonar o pedir perdón. Me llamas a seguir tu ejemplo de delicadeza en el trato con mis hermanos, los hombres, a evitar los insultos, las palabras ofensivas, recriminatorias, o falsas.
Dame la gracia, Señor, de aprender a perdonar y recibir perdón como Tú me pides.
«Respecto al mandamiento “no matarás”, Él afirma que es violado no solo por el homicidio efectivo, sino también por esos comportamientos que ofenden la dignidad de la persona humana, comprendidas las palabras injuriosas. Claro, estas palabras injuriosas no tienen la misma gravedad y culpabilidad del asesinato, pero se ponen en la misma línea, porque se dan las premisas y revelan la misma malevolencia. Jesús nos invita a no establecer una clasificación de las ofensas, sino a considerarlas todas dañinas, en cuanto son movidas por el intento de hacer el mal al próximo. Y Jesús pone el ejemplo. Insultar: nosotros estamos acostumbrados a insultar, es como decir “buenos días”. Y eso está en la misma línea del asesinato. Quien insulta al hermano, mata en su propio corazón a su hermano. Por favor, ¡no insultéis! No ganamos nada….»
