Jesús, quiero escuchar tu voz. Cuántas veces mi corazón está preocupado por muchas cosas. Cuántas veces voy corriendo de un lado a otro. Y en el fondo te busco a ti. Cuando me quedo delante en silencio, delante de ti, en la Eucaristía, experimento esa paz profunda que me permite maravillarme de tu amor silencio. Por eso vengo a tus pies, me meto en el fondo de tu corazón y permanezco en silencio.

From the Holy Gospel according to Luke 17:26-37
In those days, Jesus said to his disciples: “What happened in the time of Noah will also happen in the time of the Son of man: they ate and drank, men and women married, until the day Noah entered the ark; then came the flood and caused them all to perish. So it was in the time of Lot: they ate and drank, they bought and sold, they sowed and built, but on the day Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and caused them all to perish. For so shall it be in the day when the Son of man shall be revealed. On that day, whoever is on the housetop and has his things in the house, let him not come down to get them; and whoever is in the field, let him not look back. Remember Lot's wife. Whoever tries to keep his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will keep it. I tell you, in that night there will be two in one bed: one will be taken and the other left; there will be two women grinding together: one will be taken and the other left.” Then the disciples said to him, “Where will that happen, Lord?” And he answered them, “Where there is a carcass, the vultures gather.”.

Meditate on what God tells you in the Gospel
¿Cuándo llegará el día de mi muerte? Sin duda que algunas veces escuchamos mensajes apocalípticos anunciados en las carteleras del cine. O podríamos leer innumerables libros que describen el fin del mundo. Pero si vamos un poco más a fondo nos podemos dar cuenta de que algunas veces pensamos en cómo nos gustaría morir. Lo hablamos con los amigos y al mismo tiempo escuchamos sus propias expectativas.
Unos dicen a mí me gustaría vivir muchos años, otros, por el contrario, prefieren aprovechar al máximo los primeros años de la juventud y después pasar a mejor vida. También escucharemos que algunos prefieren una muerte rápida y otros una agonía lenta pero sin dolor. Pero cuántas veces escuchamos también de aquel chico que murió repentinamente, aquel familiar que en un momento le dio un infarto y, cada uno, puede darse cuenta que la muerte llega de un momento a otro sin llamar a la puerta.
Una vez le preguntaron a santo Domingo Savio, que haría si supiese que ese mismo día muriese. Él, con su sencillez infantil, dijo que seguiría jugando. Y he ahí el secreto. Este pequeño santo vivía preparado para el encuentro con Dios. Tenía la puerta abierta y no tenía un calendario. Vivía los acontecimientos más ordinarios con amor. A veces se puede vivir la vida a la carrera sin disfrutar cada momento. Podemos pasar por un parque sin disfrutar de la flor que ha nacido. Podemos visitar muchos países sin pararnos a contemplar una pintura. Podemos ser cristianos sin ser amigos de Jesús.
«¡Cuánta gente buena hemos conocido y conocemos!, y decimos: «esta persona es un santo». Lo decimos, nos viene espontáneamente. Estos son los santos de la puerta de al lado, los que no están canonizados pero viven con nosotros. Imitar sus gestos de amor y de misericordia es un poco como perpetuar su presencia en este mundo. Y, en efecto, esos gestos evangélicos son los únicos que resisten a la destrucción de la muerte: un acto de ternura, una ayuda generosa, un tiempo dedicado a escuchar, una visita, una palabra buena, una sonrisa… Ante nuestros ojos estos gestos pueden parecer insignificantes, pero a los ojos de Dios son eternos, porque el amor y la compasión son más fuertes que la muerte».

Hoy Jesús, viviré el día haciendo cada cosa lo mejor posible. Si estoy trabajando pondré todo el esfuerzo en hacerlo bien, si hablo con alguien le prestaré atención,… Viviré cada cosa con sencillez y con pasión.
