Preparatory prayer (to put me in the presence of God)
Lord, give me the grace to be able to experience your love.
Gospel of the day (to guide your meditation)
From the Holy Gospel according to Luke 11:29-32
At that time, the crowd crowded around Jesus and he began to say to them: “The people of this time are a perverse people. They ask for a sign, but no sign will be given to them except the sign of Jonah. For just as Jonah was a sign for the inhabitants of Nineveh, so will the Son of man be for the people of this time. When the men of this time are judged, the queen of the south will arise on the day of judgment to condemn them, for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and here is one who is more than Solomon. When the people of this time are judged, the men of Nineveh will rise up in the day of judgment to condemn them, because they were converted by the preaching of Jonah, and here is one who is more than Jonah.”.
Word of the Lord.
Meditate on what God tells you in the Gospel
Some years ago I locked myself in my room and, with a lot of pain for what I was going through, I asked God for help after a long time without talking to Him. Nothing happened, nothing was solved, everything was worse and I wondered, why nothing happened? Wasn't it God?
Many times we approach God because he is God; we surround him asking him to fix our lives because only then can we believe him, only then can we be his disciples, or at least it happened to me, that I only looked for him when I needed him. We forget that God has something much greater to give us, his love.
To know and experience that God loves us is the greatest gift we can have. This love is greater than anything he can give us; his love is greater than a good life without pain or suffering.
Our life should be a complete experience of God's love; with everything that happens to us we should see God's affection for us. To experience a real love, which does not remain written in a book of many pages but lives in the heart; a love that never changes but always exists. An intense, passionate, personal love for each one of us, a love that only lives and is consumed for us. A pure love that has no interests, a love that knows how to love because it always gives itself.
The only thing we should ask for is to be able to experience God, to be able to live the love that God has for us, and only that will be enough in our lives, only that will make us happy.
«To this Eucharist we also bring that difficult moment that often questions and calls into question our faith. We want to unite ourselves to Jesus. He knows pain and trials; He went through all the pains in order to accompany us in ours. Jesus on the cross wants to be close to every painful situation to give us his hand and help us to get up. Because He entered our history, He wanted to share our journey and touch our wounds. We do not have a God alien to what we feel and suffer, on the contrary, in the midst of pain he gives us his hand».
(Homily of H.H. Francis, January 20, 2018).
Dialogue with Christ
This is the most important part of your prayer, prepare yourself to talk with much love with the One who loves you.
Purpose
Propose a personal one. The one that involves the most love in response to the Beloved... or, if you believe that this is what God is asking of you, live what is suggested below.
I will seek the face of Christ in my day, and in the face of the problems that arise I will say in faith: Lord, I trust in you.
Farewell
We thank you, Lord, for all your benefits, you who live and reign forever and ever.
Amen.
Christ, our King!
Thy Kingdom come!
Most prudent Virgin, Mary, Mother of the Church.
Pray for us.
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
