Preparatory prayer (to put me in the presence of God)

Mary, my mother. I want to walk towards Jesus. If I feel unworthy of Him, if I feel dirty, impure, fallen, I ask you to take my hand and lead me to Him.

Gospel of the day (to guide your meditation)
From the Holy Gospel according to Luke 1:39-56

In those days, Mary went in haste to a village in the hill country of Judea, and entering the house of Zacharias, she greeted Elizabeth. As soon as Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the child leaped in her womb. Then Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, and raising her voice, she exclaimed, “You among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb! Who am I that the mother of my Lord should come to me? As soon as your greeting reached my ears, the child leaped for joy in my womb. Blessed are you who have believed, for what was spoken to you by the Lord will be fulfilled. Then Mary said, ”My soul glorifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, because he has looked upon the lowliness of his handmaid. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for he who is all-powerful has done great things in me. Holy is his name, and his mercy reaches from generation to generation to those who fear him. He has made the power of his arm to be felt: he has scattered the proud in heart, he has overthrown the mighty, and exalted the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty.
Remembering his mercy, he came to the help of Israel, his servant, as he had promised to our fathers, to Abraham and his descendants, forever.” Mary stayed with Elizabeth about three months, and returned to her home.

Word of the Lord.

Meditate on what God tells you in the Gospel

Blessed are you, Mary, who believed that the words of the Lord would be fulfilled. This is my deepest wish: that the words of the Lord be fulfilled. You knew how to act according to love. You knew how to walk with trust in God. How many dark days you must have lived through; cold days, alone in your home, Christ was gone. Christ was gone. How long would the loneliness last?

And the desire to see your son be happy, to see him grow and not see him suffer, how difficult it was to see him broken. But he was happy and you saw it, but he was happy in pain. That sword in the soul.

Not even three years had passed and your son was soon to die. Where did he learn to love in such a way that even the torturous death itself did not quench his desire to love? Behind him there was a mother who loved him so much that she taught him to constantly look beyond his own life. Loving Him so much you had prepared Him to love. He would leave you, Mary. And you would send him away with the same confidence with which you gave birth to him.

You changed humanity, my Mother, begetting the very God who became incarnate. You were only a creature, but so generous. Only a creature, but so silent. Only a creature, but so understanding. Just one creature, but so full of grace. Just a creature, but the Mother of the Lord. Just a creature, but also my mother.

You believed. Blessed are you, my Mother, who by believing opened the world to God Himself; and God Himself came to redeem us. Behold my mother.

Behold your son, behold your daughter. I want to walk with you to the cross and hear my Lord say «behold your mother».

«In those days, Mary was running to a small town on the outskirts of Jerusalem to meet Elizabeth. Today, however, we contemplate her on her way to the heavenly Jerusalem, to finally meet the face of the Father and to see again the face of her son Jesus... She was the first to believe in the Son of God, and she is the first to be ascended to heaven in soul and body. She was the first to welcome and take Jesus in her arms when he was still a child; she is the first to be welcomed in his arms to enter the eternal Kingdom of the Father. Mary, a humble and simple young woman from a small village on the outskirts of the Roman Empire, precisely because she welcomed and lived the Gospel, was admitted by God to be in eternity at the throne of his Son. In this way the Lord brought down the mighty from their thrones and exalted the lowly».
(Angelus H.H. Pope Francis, August 15, 2016)

Dialogue with Christ

This is the most important part of your prayer, prepare yourself to talk with much love with the One who loves you.

Purpose

Propose a personal one. The one that involves the most love in response to the Beloved... or, if you believe that this is what God is asking of you, live what is suggested below.

I will pray a mystery of the rosary for those who do not yet know their heavenly mother, Mary, mother of Jesus and our mother.

Farewell

We thank you, Lord, for all your benefits, you who live and reign forever and ever.
Amen.

Christ, our King!
Thy Kingdom come!

Most prudent Virgin, Mary, Mother of the Church.
Pray for us.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
