The beginning of the pastoral year in September 2025 brought with it a number of significant developments in the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Boulogne and in the diocese of Nanterre. The approvalcanonical constitution of the community of the Legionaries of Christ in the area, new pastoral missions, the inauguration of an oratorio dedicated to San Carlo Acutis and formation days marked a month of activity for local church life.

The priestly community is officially established
On September 15, during the celebration of the memorial of Our Lady of Sorrows, Fr. Valentin Gögele, L.C., presided at Mass in the basilica. In his homily he highlighted Mary's fidelity and example at the foot of the cross, a model for every Christian who wishes to serve with hope.
At the same celebration, it was announced the approvescanonical recognition of the community of the Legionaries of Christ in the Diocese of Nanterre. This official recognition confirms their stable presence and their pastoral commitment to the service of the local Church.
The father Valentin Gögele, L.C. expressed his gratitude to Mons. Matthieu Rougé, Bishop of Nanterre, and to the parish community for their constant support. He also underlined the desire of the priests to continue working with humility, joy and spirit of service.

New missions in the service of the community
On Friday, September 19, Amélie Perroy, consecrated of the Regnum Christi, was officially sent to collaborate in the pastoral care of adults., at the Basilica Notre-Dame de Boulogne. The ceremony was presided over by Msgr. Rougé and the rector of the basilica, the Father Roger Villegas, L.C.
Accompanied by her family and friends, Amélie expressed her gratitude for the trust received and her desire to continue serving the parish community with dedication and closeness.
That same month, the community also welcomed Fr. Martin Flynn, L.C., who became a chaplain. «It is a new adventure, with much to do and much to learn.», he commented. «I am happy to be with this team and with this community that lives its faith with enthusiasm.».

A space for prayer that invites to the encounter
After two years of work, the basilica's presbytery has been renovated and now houses an oratory dedicated to St. Carlo. Acutis. This space seeks to encourage prayer and welcome the different parish groups and apostolates.
The interior and exterior renovation of the basilica has been a visible sign of growth and openness, offering better conditions for liturgical and community life.
Formation and pastoral co-responsibility
Monday, September 22, to held a working day on pastoral life. Guided by Viviana Lemon, consecrated of the Regnum Christi, the participants spent the day reviewing their responsibilities and planning concrete actions in the prayer, mission and witness.
The day concluded with moments of prayer and a commitment to continue strengthening the accompaniment of individuals and families in the community.
A time of gratitude and hope
Collaboration between priests, consecrated women and laity continues the pastoral mission and spiritual renewal of the community.
As recalled by Fr. Valentine Gögele, L.C., during his homily on the day of canonical approval, «every cross embraced with faith becomes a source of life». With this conviction, the community from Regnum Christi family a new course begins with gratitude and hope, trusting that the Lord will continue to guide their path.
