The Jubilee of the educational world:

Educating in humanity,
faith and hope

Education, understood from the Magisterium of the Church, is a fundamental right and a privileged way for the integral development of the person. integral development of the person.

Gravissimum Educationis (1965), a document of the Second Vatican Council, stresses that to educate is not only to transmit knowledge, but to form in freedom, responsibility and openness to truth, recognizing the dignity and transcendent vocation of every human being. Decades later, in continuity with this vision, the Congregation for Catholic Education published Educating to Fraternal Humanism (2017), reaffirming the humanizing role of education in a world marked by fragmentation and exclusion. This text proposes the construction of an “educational village” where families, teachers, institutions and communities collaborate in the formation of people capable of dialoguing, loving and transforming reality with hope and commitment. Thus, Catholic education is presented as a process that unites faith and culture, promotes encounter and forms citizens in solidarity, open to the care of others and of the common home.

Inspired by this vision of the Magisterium, the Jubilee of the Educational World - celebrated from October 27 to November 2, 2025 - invites us to renew our commitment to an education that forms in humanity, faith and service. In this context, the educational works of Regnum Christi are enthusiastically joining in, and some rectors and school principals have shared valuable reflections on the profound meaning of Catholic education in our times.

Dr. Luis Linares, rector of Universidad Anáhuac Veracruz
What gives you hope when you think about the future of Catholic education?

Dr. Luis Linares

Rector of the Universidad Anáhuac Veracruz

Catholic education is in itself a sign of hope, because its principle is to open the hearts of the educational community to the action of God in the life of each person. It is an education which, beyond the professional, leads the individual to ask and answer the fundamental questions of existence, and thus to have the opportunity to establish a relationship between the Creator and the creature, a disproportionate relationship, which exceeds our smallest possibilities and opens the opportunity to transcend to the heavenly.Every woman or man alive has this opportunity, it is necessary to cultivate an upright conscience, a freedom capable of self-determination in the good and a will full of fortitude to persevere in it, in spite of the difficulties.By forming these capacities of the soul, we achieve a disposition to encounter God who passes by, enlightens, calls, transforms, captivates, reveals himself as Father and fills our pilgrimage through the world with hope.

Caroline France Mendoza Leclere, Rector of Universidad Anáhuac Oaxaca
What are your dreams for your university in the next ten years?

Caroline France Mendoza Leclere

Rector of the Universidad Anáhuac Oaxaca

I dream of a university that is a beacon of hope and an engine of transformation, a place where each young person discovers his or her purpose, strengthens his or her spirit and prepares to serve with excellence, humanity and transcendent meaning. I envision classrooms and hallways that vibrate with profound dialogue, innovation with a human face, and a community that walks together in the search for truth. A university that forms leaders of integrity and solidarity, capable of building bridges in a fragmented world and of constructing a future based on fraternity. I hope that our families will find in the university a close and reliable ally in the education of their sons and daughters, and that our graduates will be a living testimony that faith, reason and love can walk together to transform society.

P. Luis Carlos Aguirre, L.C., Director of Anahuac Mexico High School Campus Cumbres
What values do you consider essential to form students capable of transforming the world from a Christian perspective?

P. Luis Carlos Aguirre, L.C.

Director of Anahuac Mexico High School Campus Cumbres

I am convinced that forming young people capable of transforming the world from a Christian perspective involves educating their identity, their conscience and their commitment to others. It is not just a matter of providing tools, but of awakening a living faith that translates into concrete life, a well-directed freedom and an authentic passion to serve. We need leaders with depth, capable of uniting faith and reason, ideals and action, and of building - with hope - a more just, more humane and truer world.

Mtra. Mónica Núñez Heather, Director of Pinecrest International School
What challenges do you see today in the integral formation of the younger generations?

Mónica Núñez Heather

Director of Pinecrest International School

In recent years I have seen that one of the great challenges in the integral formation of young people is the excess of time in front of screens and unfiltered access to social networks, which often mark the way they relate to each other. We are also facing a generation with very low frustration tolerance, accustomed to immediacy and with unclear limits. In addition, many see their parents more as friends than as guides, which makes it difficult to accompany them in building character and values. Our challenge as educators is to teach them to find balance, discipline and purpose.

P. Charles Sikorsky, L.C., President of Divine Mercy University (DMU), USA
Modern cultural influences seek to persuade people that God does not exist or lacks relevance in their lives. Is there hope for the faith of Catholic university graduates?

P. Charles Sikorsky, L.C.

Chancellor of Divine Mercy University (DMU), USA

Personally, I have seen our graduates maintain their values over time and do wonderful things. I think, as human beings, we tend to overcomplicate things, and sometimes we forget that people respond well to God's teachings. One of the trends we see most often at DMU is that young people are looking for more reverence and tradition in liturgy because they have grown up in a very superficial culture. The new generations are looking for something that lasts, and when they are exposed to it, they are drawn to it. I think that's the hope of the Church, that's the hope of the Gospel.

Daniel Sada, Rector of the Universidad Francisco de Vitoria, Spain.
How does UFV understand the integral formation of the person?

Daniel Sada

Rector of the Universidad Francisco de Vitoria, Spain

The University forms for life, which means putting the person at the center and understanding what the integral formation of the person means and this, from Christian anthropology, is much easier to do and understand. There is a revolution in favor of the humanities that both the business world and the educational system need to understand. The need to have people who, in addition to a good technical training, languages, internationalization, have a series of transversal values, of soft skills, which are being detected as fundamental (An interview on the subject, can be seen at here).
