8 thousand missionaries participate in the Holy Week Megamissions in MexicoAfter a two-year pause due to the pandemic, the Easter Week face-to-face Megamission was organized by Mission Youth, after doing it in virtual mode for COVID health reasons. There were eight days of pastoral work with medical missions, construction of houses, visits to prisons and other evangelization activities. Eight thousand missionaries visited 552 rural and urban communities, prisons and hospitals in 24 states of the country.

In the different mission cities, the “sending forth” and closing masses of the Megamission were celebrated. For the Valley of Mexico, the closing Mass was celebrated in the esplanade of the Anahuac University Mexico, with more than 4,000 attendees, 60 priests legionaries of Christ, consecrated members of Regnum Christi, consecrated laity of Regnum Christi and lay members of Regnum Christi. It was presided over by the territorial director of the Legionaries of Christ for Mexico and Central America, Fr. Alberto Simán, LC.

8 thousand missionaries participate in the Holy Week Megamissions in Mexico«Faith, dear missionaries, makes us see not a dead Jesus, but a living Jesus in the suffering of other people. You have seen and heard Jesus suffering in sick people, in sad people, in people who work long hours and live in poverty», said Father Simán in his homily. He then exhorted them to transmit the love of Christ with creativity, as daring missionaries to take the love and joy of Jesus everywhere. Paraphrasing a canon, he reminded them: «God needs your hands, your feet, your eyes, he needs you, as they have sung in these days in the hymn of the Missionary Youth and Family».

Brenda Treviño, national director of Missionary Youth and Family, commented: «It is very encouraging for our society to see thousands of young people taking advantage of their Holy Week vacation to help those most in need; they share their skills and bring joy to the elderly, children and youth they visit.

At this mass, 70 young people decided to offer a year of their lives as Regnum Christi collaborators in the service of the Church. The closing mass was also held in other cities such as Ivory Coast, Philippines, Brazil, Chile, France, Argentina, Spain and others.
