The Center for the Protection of Minors (CEPROME) of the Pontifical University of Mexico published its most recent book in the series «Prevention in the Church» with the theme: «The Mission of the Laity».
The book aims to offer different formative tools that address the issue of prevention of child abuse because “the whole Church is called to live the culture of prevention. The laity has a relevant role in this regard”.
Through testimonies of victims of abuse, reflections from different professional areas in Latin America, proposals for following up on complaints, among other elements and guidelines, this book aims to strengthen the apostolate of prevention.
As part of the collaborations, Father Benjamín Clariond, L.C., who has participated on previous occasions in CEPROME publications, as well as in campaigns of prevention and attention to abuse, presents a paper entitled «True love does not hurt. The Loverboy method and the networks of prostitution of minors».

The Center for the Protection of Minors aims to be a space for interdisciplinary research and training that helps to promote the protection of minors, for which it offers dioceses and religious congregations the possibility of carrying out a specialized study.
Its objectives are:
- Train and educate priests/seminarians, religious orders and pastoral agents, teachers and social workers to foster a culture of ecclesial prevention.
- Develop digital learning programs and support for the creation of specialized councils in each diocese.
- Establish guidelines, in agreement with the Mexican Episcopate, that include explanations of prevention measures, as well as support for research and interdisciplinary training for CEM by consolidating diocesan teams for the protection of minors.
