From November 17 to 19, a triduum for the renewal of the Regnum Christi ladies of Veracruz took place. The activity took place in the Rafael Guízar y Valencia Mission Center, The event was held in Chilapa (Veracruz), with the participation of 51 ladies from the Veracruz, Cordoba and Orizaba sections.
Mrs. Cecilia Arzamendi, assistant from Orizaba, said a few words of welcome: «Today, God has called us to experience the love of Jesus Christ in silence; in this beautiful place that we all call “a little piece of heaven”.
Fr. Juan Antonio Torres, LC, local director, gave the triduum with meditations that were born from personal reflections, suggestions received through preaching or writings of other companions and priest friends.
The triduum began with some advice to take advantage of the reflections: to ask God for the grace to approach Him with the intimate and experimental knowledge with which only those who know how to love Him know Him, to reach Him, and to savor His contemplation in silence more with their love than with their reasoning, and to ask the Holy Spirit for light.
In the introductory talk, it was advised to follow a recollection to reach an encounter with God. To make silence around us, to move away the noise, the distractions that take the mind out of ourselves.
To be humble. To promote humility, it helps a lot to recognize the sins, the offenses against God. Therefore, humility is linked to purity of heart.
Another meditation was entitled “Regnum Christi in the heart of the Gospel”. The mystery of Christ is unfathomable. He is the merciful face of God who comes to us to save us and to show us the infinity of his love.
As part of the charism, the members of Regnum Christi are called to “make present the mystery of Christ who gathers the apostles around himself, reveals to them the love of his heart, forms them and sends them to collaborate in the establishment of his Kingdom in the hearts of men and in society” (EFRC N.4).
In this triduum we were introduced to meditation on the way Christ acted in his role as formator of men. For this purpose, a talk was given by Mrs. Ángeles Navarrete: «The identity of Regnum Christi: Living and making present the mystery of Christ».
The retreat concluded on Thursday, November 19, with the celebration of the Eucharist and the renewal of commitments as faithful associated with Regnum Christi.
As members of Regnum Christi, Jesus calls us to imitate him: “Go and make disciples”, we can also hear the echo of those other words that Jesus pronounced at the beginning of his ministry: “Come and I will make you fishers of men”. Now it is our turn to do the same.
