The general plenary of the Regnum Christi Federation is «the assembly of the general councilors of the federated institutions [...]. Six faithful associates participate in the plenary with consultative vote, namely, those who attend the general board of directors and four others, designated according to the corresponding Regulations» (EFRC 89).
Number 90 of the Statutes of the Federation Regnum Christi mentions that «The General Plenary is an organ of assistance to the Directing College» and comments that its function is «to offer its consent or opinion, when requested by the Directing College, in accordance with its own law and thus assist it in the exercise of its authority» (EFRC 91). Their collaboration expresses the spirit of communion that characterizes Regnum Christi (EFRC 91).
From March 30 to April 1, following the worldwide restrictions imposed by the Coronavirus, the members of the plenary met according to schedule, but virtually, each one from his or her place of residence.
Both days, from 15:30 to 19:00 Rome time, the following were connected twenty-six people, members of the three general governments of the Legionaries of Christ, the Lay Consecrated Men and the Consecrated Women of Regnum Christi, The plenary session will be attended by the members of the Congregation, together with the lay members elected to participate in the plenary session and other persons who have been appointed to attend by office. The lay members attending the plenary are Álvaro Abellán-García, Francisco Gamez Arcaya, David Zárate Pérez, Kerrie Rivard, Carmen Fernández Rodríguez and José Antonio Lebrija Ruiloba.
On Monday the 30th they had the opportunity to greet each other, get to know each other and ponder the current world situation in which we find ourselves and how it affects the members of Regnum Christi. They took time to let the Holy Spirit speak, expressing the desires and dreams that each one carried in their hearts. The conclusions of the Chapter and the General Assemblies were also presented in a synthetic way.
On Wednesday 1, the lay members presented their expectations for this sexennium. Then the General Board of Directors and their teams reported on the beginning of their work and their objectives with a presentation on the life and mission of Regnum Christi, given by Viviana Limón; another on the International Communications Office given by Fr.
They reviewed the apostolate reports of the General Steering Committee and the territories and discussed how they could serve Regnum Christi, how to foster the collaboration of all vocations and territories with the General Directorate of Regnum Christi in a stable and project-based manner, and how best to offer accompaniment to the territories.
These were days of introduction and exchange. The General Board of Directors took up what was expressed during the plenary to apply it to its new government.
