The General Direction College of Regnum Christi sent a letter to Regnum Christi members announcing the publication of the Lord, teach us to pray, new prayer book for the laity of Regnum Christi.
The Board of Trustees presents this new resource as «.«a guide to look for God in every circumstance of our life and also to make us the finders, to open our heart, to let him pass and invite him to remain in it. Forever.
The book takes its title from Luke's Gospel, when the disciples ask Jesus: “Lord, teach us to pray” (Lc, 11:1), that clear request of one who knows that his heart needs the right spaces to meet God and allow himself to be found by Him.
Thus, Lord, teach us to pray is a guide and aid for personal and community prayer, as well as an instrument of formation for the Regnum Christi laity.
Why a new prayer book?
It was a necessity since the prayer book must be adjusted to the renewal of Regnum Christi as expressed in the Statutes and in the Regulations of the Faithful Associates.
In addition, the publication of a new prayer book has been a constant demand from many lay people since before the approval of the Statutes.
To carry out the renewal of the prayer book, several working commissions were formed at the international level, coordinated by lay people and made up of members of all vocations: one for the design of the project for the renewal of the manual; another for its drafting; and another for its revision.
The project design commission conducted a survey answered by 257 people from 19 countries in the different territories of Regnum Christi. They were asked about the degree of knowledge, use and appreciation of the previous prayer manual; about the possibility of adding or deleting some contents of the manual; about the prayer life of the Regnum Christi laity; and about the type of tools and means they use today to pray.
Some new features of the new prayer book
It is based on the tradition of the previous manual and, at the same time, on the experience of the spiritual renewal initiated in recent years. The arrangement of the prayers in Lord, teach us to pray is very similar to that of the old manual, although now the idea that prayer is not only something we do, but that the whole of life and its rhythms are also prayerful life and rhythms is emphasized.
Some prayers and practices, already in disuse for several years, have been eliminated; others have been modified, in conformity with the renewed expression of the charism contained in the Statutes of the Regnum Christi Federation; and some have been added, such as those dedicated to the renewal of Regnum Christi.
According to the quantitative results obtained in the survey, indications have been added for the realization of the “encounter with Christ”, as well as the rite of association to Regnum Christi, so that the laity can meditate on it and spiritually renew their association in their personal prayer when they wish to do so.
Lord, teach us to pray is now available in the next web page.
