On April 29, Fr. John Connor, LC, announced that Fr. Hernán Jiménez, LC, vicar general of the Legionaries of Christ, will be the new delegate of the general director for the international houses in Rome, and Fr. Jesús Villagrasa, LC, general councilor of the Legionaries of Christ, will replace Fr. Juan José Arrieta, LC, as delegate of the general director for the Holy Land.
The general director's delegates have all the powers that regional law grants to the territorial director of the religious Congregation and are not linked to the opinion or consent of their governing Council. When the proper law provides for hearing the opinion or requesting the consent of the territorial Council or the General Council, the delegates shall present the matters to the Superior General for due resolution with the General Council.
In Rome, the Legionaries of Christ also run the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum, the European University of Rome, the UER University Residence, the Highlands School of Rome, the parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Saint Philip the Martyr, as well as ART Editions, but these realities will be governed by the government bodies indicated in their respective statutes, so, for these cases, the delegate of the general director for Rome will not have authority over these works of apostolate.
In the Holy Land, the Legionaries of Christ run two centers, the Institute Pontifical Notre Dame of Jerusalem, and the Magdala Center.
