Kyrios is an apostolate of Regnum Christi in Spain aimed at those young people who ask themselves questions about their existence and their life, and want to know the truth about all of them. In the Francisco de Vitoria University, Rafael Pou, LC, Fr. Nicolás Núñez, LC, as well as other young people of Regnum Christi such as Patty Maxwell, Pablo Sada, etc. This itinerary ended a few days ago. Patricia Ranninger, a young laywoman of Regnum Christi, has participated in it, and in this interview she tells us how Kyrios has helped her in her day to day faith and why she would recommend it to other young people.
What has this path you have taken consisted of?
Kyrios is the first stage of a faith journey proposed by Regnum Christi for young people whose lives feel empty of meaning today. It begins by asking yourself the question: “Is your life today fulfilling you? And if your answer is no, then ”come and see,“ Jesus Christ tells you, as he invites you to listen to his proposal of life and to follow him. These are not talks as such, but episodes in which you explore more deeply your identity, your history and the role of Christ in it, together with a community of young people who, like you, are searching for a happiness in their lives that they have not yet been able to find, culminating in a final retreat where the stage is concluded.
What topics have you addressed during this time?
The themes that have been addressed have been, among others, the things that promise us life, but in reality take it away from us and enslave us. We also had the opportunity to go deeper, tracing the fears and wounds that dominate us... and the proposal of Jesus: to embrace our weakness and throw ourselves into living life in Him, trusting. Other themes were the role of the other in our life, the love received and given, and forgiveness.
How has Kyrios helped you in your daily life and in your faith?
Kyrios has helped me to put words to much of what I carry in my heart, to make me aware of what enslaves me and what frightens me. It is when you begin to live what you have learned that you begin to live differently, consciously, truly. And it has also helped me to change the image of God that I had, more distorted and far from reality. God is good.
What surprised you the most about Kyrios and what did you like the most?
What has surprised me the most is the realization that I already knew a lot of the theory, but I had not put it into practice. And in the end that is what makes the difference: not to have someone else live it for you, but to live it yourself. And it was living it myself, in community with other young people in the final retreat in Avila, that I liked the most.
Would you recommend it to young people? Why?
I think this itinerary is great for any young person with the feeling that their life is not fulfilling them, that they are longing for more and don't know how to fill that emptiness inside. I would tell them to dare to cast their nets to the right and give Jesus a chance to enter their heart through Kyrios and the stages that follow.
