Regnum Christi in Argentina participates in the Synod convoked by Pope Francis

This year the Archdiocese of Buenos Aires held its first ever synod on synodality, led by Cardinal Mario Aurelio Poli.

After several years of consultation with all the People of God of Buenos Aires (in which some groups of Regnum Christi also participated), the more than 200 delegates of the synod were elected according to the various deaneries and vicariates, seeking to ensure a representation of all the sectors and communities of the diocese, in view of a renewed evangelization drive in the city.

The following were invited to participate consecrated members of Regnum Christi Maricarmen Rodriguez and Kelly Allen with Father Carlos Macias, Legionary of Christ, by the Vicariate of Consecrated Life.

As synod members, Maricarmen, Kelly and Father Carlos participated in the minimum and minor circles of the synod, along with other delegates of the diocese from various parishes, movements and pastoral areas. The dynamics consisted of a prayerful reading of the working document prior to the synodal sessions, and then sharing the reflections and proposals in the circles assigned by the synod organization. The conclusion of these meetings consisted in elaborating a proposal, according to the theme of the day, which will be taken into account for the priorities to be set by the diocese at the end of the synod.

The themes of the five sessions were the following: the evangelical and theological framework of the synod, accompaniment of the poor and suffering, evangelization, celebration of the liturgy, and synodality. While it has been a path of enrichment and learning to know and engage in dialogue with so many diverse realities of the diocese, the great challenge (which will involve all the members of Regnum Christi and the diocese) will come with the post-synod, so that this synodal path takes shape in the concrete reality of each of us, according to the priorities that the synod will mark, seeking a renewed momentum of Evangelization in the whole city.

“We are grateful for the gift of being children of the Church and being able to collaborate with her in this new stage of the diocese. We invite everyone to continue united in prayer for the fruits of the Spirit that blows, showing us renewed paths of Evangelization and the extension of His Kingdom,” says Kelly Allen, a consecrated Regnum Christi member.
