General Plenary of the Federation Regnum Christi

General Plenary of the Federation Regnum Christi

From October 5 to 7, the General Plenary of the Regnum Christi. The General Plenary is an organ of assistance to the General Board of Directors. Its collaboration expresses the spirit of communion that characterizes the Regnum Christi Federation. It offers its consent or opinion, when requested by the Directing College, in accordance with its own law and thus assists it in the exercise of its authority. Its collaboration is necessary and particularly important when it offers its opinion on documents destined for the whole Regnum Christi, guidelines for evangelization and plans for the fulfillment of the common mission (Statutes of the Regnum Christi Federation, 90).

The General Plenary is composed of the members of the three general governments of the three countries. Legionaries of Christ, the Lay Consecrated Men and the Consecrated Women of Regnum Christi, together with the elected lay members (cf. Statutes of the Regnum Christi Federation, 89, 1).

October 5, Rafael Ducci, LC, The newly appointed Secretary General of the Regnum Christi Federation, introduced the work of the plenary. Afterwards, Viviana Limón, a consecrated member of Regnum Christi, presented the theme of the Mystery of Christ (following the booklet of identity of Regnum Christi according to the Statutes), giving space for reflection and personal study on the identity brochure.

On Tuesday, October 6, a study on the virtual world was presented in the light of No. 8 of the Bylaws and a sharing on how, as Regnum Christi, we are called to make present the mystery of Christ in a virtualized world and how we are called to live our mission in the virtual world.

On October 7, there was an informative presentation of the government programs of the consecrated branches, the presentation of the organization and planning of the general direction of the Regnum Christi Federation, and concluded with the presentation of the program of the “Life and Mission” area.

Some participants shared their impressions of the General Plenary:

«Participating in the plenary meetings is always an enriching experience: to reflect and focus on what is most important in our identity and, in the light of this, to see how to organize our apostolic activity. It is always a source of joy and reaffirmation of the vocation received to be apostles of the Kingdom of Christ in the world.» (Javier Bendek, consecrated layperson of Regnum Christi).

«The days of the general plenary were days of encounter. We were able to allow ourselves to be moved by the way in which Christ makes present the Kingdom of His Father in the Gospels. We took a look at the current situation and how we feel called to respond together as Regnum Christi, in the here and now» (Eugenia Alvarez, consecrated member of Regnum Christi).

«I marvel as a Legionary at the action of the Holy Spirit in the members and governments of the consecrated branches and in the laity of Regnum Christi. I am filled with confidence and optimism by their breadth of horizons and their human, spiritual and ecclesial maturity» (P. Pedro Barrajón, LC).

«This plenary leaves us thinking more about the path of maturation that the vocation of the laity is called to follow in our spiritual family; we need to continue walking the path already undertaken to make alive the rules that govern us and the very mission of the laity and thus make fully tangible the co-responsibility that we share with the consecrated branches. This plenary has undoubtedly been a beautiful experience of family, communion and union among the four vocations of our spiritual family» (David Zarate, Regnum Christi layman).
