P. Nikola Derpich, LC

Fr. Nikola Derpich, LC has just published in English the first volume of a series of books “The Liturgy Day by Day” with daily reflections on the liturgy. In his first volume, “Advent and Christmas,” the author seeks to offer homiletical reflections for each day of Advent and Christmas.

“After writing a long academic project that involved years of attention and research, I wanted to write something simpler that could nourish my ministry and also serve as spiritual food for others, a simple homiletical thought for each day of the liturgy based primarily on the readings of the day but drawn from the liturgical season,” writes Fr. Nikola in the book's introduction.

The series of books on liturgy will take the following order:

  1. Advent and Christmas
  2. Lent and Holy Week
  3. Easter
  4. Ordinary Time, weeks 1 to 17
  5. Ordinary Time, weeks 18 to 34
  6. Solemnities, Feasts and Memorials with own readings

From the first Sunday of Advent to the last day of the Christmas season, the first volume of Liturgy, Day by Day will help the reader to receive our Lord in the manger of Bethlehem and in his own heart.

The book can be purchased at the Amazon store, by following this link and is available as a paperback book or for Kindle.

After graduating from UCSC with a double major and working in the computer industry for seven and a half years, he had one of those moments when he asked himself, “Is this how it's going to be for the rest of my life?”.

On the feast of St. Francis of Assisi in 2005, he professed perpetual vows and on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception in 2006, he was ordained a priest in Rome and continued theological studies, taking a Licentiate from 2006-2008 and then beginning a doctorate in 2008, which he completed on March 26, 2015.

He currently lives and works pastorally in Durham and Raleigh, North Carolina, where, in addition to assisting in local parishes, he serves the Legionaries of the territory as Territorial Prefect of Studies and works on projects for the RC Spirituality Center, as well as in other academic projects.
