Paul Lara, L.C., Carmen Ramirez, and Jose Mateos, sent a communication to all the members of the territory establishing the change of name from “Territory of Monterrey” to “Territory of Northern Mexico”.
This decision responds to several factors such as: the current name (Monterrey) does not correspond to the reality of the territory. It causes confusion in some members of Regnum Christi from other cities who do not feel identified with this name. Previously, the name of the territory indicated a city in the state of Nuevo Leon where the former territorial address was located, which is now located in San Pedro Garza Garcia, N.L. For audiences outside of Regnum Christi, the name «Territory of Monterrey» requires clarification.
The communiqué also mentions that “we seek that all the members of Regnum Christi in our territory feel more fully identified with this new name. Although the nomenclature is «Northern Mexico», the territory also includes the Bajio and Western Mexico, but it is not included in the title to avoid handling such an extensive name”.
The change of name will come into effect on January 1, 2021 and the Regnum Christi Consecrated Sisters and the Legionaries of Christ have also joined this modification, which will also change their name in these territories to be integrated into this change.
