Since November 2020, the youth sections of Regnum Christi in Bogota have joined together to create an apostolic initiative called Walk it, In this program, they take walks to disconnect from the city and their worries to connect with God through nature and have a day of coexistence. So far there have been three hikes, the first was to the Farallones de Sutatausa, the second to the Cerro de las tres viejas, and the third to the Monolitos de Suesca.
Gaby Gómez, tells us about her experience at Walk it, The message communicated by the mountains, the flowers, the birds; of the road, which, however steep it may seem, is always better with a good company; and of that to which contemplating the greatness of God in his creatures invites her.
«Dostoyevsky said that beauty will save the world and I believe so too. The beauty of nature cries out to us with strength and tenderness the greatness of the One Who is Truth, Goodness and Beauty itself. The mountains remind us how small we are and how great God is. The rocks, that, if it is possible for flowers to sprout from them, nothing is impossible for Him and that He truly makes all things new. The birds, that there are times to flap our wings and also to let us be held. So I could dwell on every creature and detail of creation that speaks of God's beauty and greatness, because they are His reflection, but obviously I would not encompass the immensity that this implies, so I will limit myself to summarize my experience in Walk it in three ideas:
- It was the perfect opportunity to remember what I said before. To disconnect from the hustle and bustle and noise of the city and connect with the silence, peace and tranquility of the mountain, which God has used so many times as an instrument to remind me how much He loves me.
- Between the climbs, the descents, the puddles, the scenery, the complaints (most of which were mine), the anecdotes, the dogs, the songs, the laughter and the prayers, I remembered that life is a lot like that road we traveled, which is full of “I've been there, I've been there, I've been there, I've been there, I've been there, I've been there, I've been there, I've been there".“Ups and downs”and that, no matter how steep the mountain may seem, it is always more enjoyable to climb it with good company. It was a perfect opportunity to share in community.
- There is a song that for a long time resonated in my heart and during this mountain Saturday it came back to my mind. “So Will I, because it is impossible for me to contemplate the greatness of God in his creatures and not think that, like each one of them, I also want to give him glory with my life, with my steps, with my heart, with my yes.
After reading this, there are only three invitations left: Listen to the song, to be amazed by the flash of beauty of each creature and not to miss the next one. Walk it».
