«We want to play forward, as Pope Francis asked us to do.»

“We believe and trust in Him to continue doing much good through us,” Jaime Pastor from the youth section of Seville explains to Lo+RC. Therefore, the section will be consecrated on Friday, June 19, Solemnity of the Sacred Heart, hoping to have “that plus that will give us the push to be more courageous and in love with everything that has to do with Jesus”.

Why do you want to consecrate the youth section of Seville to the Sacred Heart?

Because we are thirsty for Him. We want to show that we, young people, are capable of doing a lot of good in the world, in this case, in Seville. Now it seems that because you are 20-22 years old you have nothing to say to society, why? Because you are young? Because you have no experience? Well, I think the opposite is true. If Jesus had chosen his apostles because of their experience... then let's get out of here! And, in addition, we want to give a message of courage: we believe and trust in Him to continue doing a lot of good in our section.

How are you preparing for this consecration in particular and as a section?

Now, with this situation, it is very difficult to do face-to-face events, but we have adapted. We prepare ourselves with simplicity and humility, knowing that our heart and our head need Him. On the one hand, through the Encounters with Christ, As a community, to strengthen the family bond that we are; and individually, each one of us at home, doing a lot of good as a family. As Mother Teresa of Calcutta said: “Love begins at home”, it is very clear to us.

What will this consecration change in your heart and in the hearts of your formators?

Well, practically everything. Not because we are going to change the way we do things, but because we are going to have that plus that will give us the push to be more courageous and in love with everything that has to do with Him. Some of us are students, others work, but we go out for drinks, we make normal plans... We want and we are going to play forward, as Pope Francis asked us to do. We want to be protagonists in a world where it seems that God has no place. I think: how can He not have a place, if He is the one who does everything?
