Women between feminism and the Church: Who defends their dignity?

At the end of November, transcendental questions were explored in the first virtual congress entitled «Feminism, Women and Theology of the Body», organized by the apostolate «Heaven in my Body» of Colombia. What is the role of women in the Church? Does the Church oppress women? Is it possible to be feminist and Catholic? What is the mission of women in the family and society? What does it mean to be beautiful nowadays? Is abortion a right? These were some of the questions that were addressed, with the participation of nine expert speakers and approximately 70 people from different countries such as Colombia, Mexico, United States, Ecuador, Spain, among others.

The central purpose of the congress was to offer a space for formation in which participants could explore, from an interdisciplinary perspective on women, identity and the feminine mission in the family and society. The implications of feminism as a global ideology were also addressed, proposing constructive responses in the light of St. John Paul II's Theology of the Body. The interdisciplinary approach was manifested in analyzing the role of women from different spheres: spiritual, philosophical, socio-cultural, aesthetic and scientific.

Among the guest speakers were: Margarita Martínez, consecrated of the Regnum Christi a native of Mexico, recognized for her outstanding digital evangelization apostolate under the name «.«With M for Maria»Fernanda Hernandez, also Mexican, and part of the digital evangelization apostolate «So close to me»; as well as Fr. Victor Ramirez, LC, who holds the position of director in the apostolate «So close to me".«The sky in my body».
