The General Governing Council of Regnum Christi sent a letter (which can also be downloaded here) to all members of Regnum Christi to join Pope Francis's petition “with our prayer and our total dedication” to the Day of Prayer, Fasting, and Penance for peace on October 27, 2023.
Thy Kingdom come!
October 22, 2023
To all members of Regnum Christi
legionaries of Christ, consecrated women, consecrated men and women, consecrated men and women, consecrated men and women, and lay people
Most beloved in Christ,
We are very pleased to greet you, while sharing with you the concern and pain that the armed conflict and violence in the Holy Land are causing, which joins - dramatically - the situations of war in Ukraine and other countries. We have followed the initiatives that have arisen to pray for peace and to support all those who suffer, such as refugees, the families of our staff, pilgrims, and the consecrated communities and legionaries who serve in Jerusalem and Galilee.
We feel challenged by this painful situation, and as apostles of the Regnum Christi, we want to make our commitment concrete through “persistent struggle against the reality of evil and sin in one's own life and in society, moved by the strength of love to the very end” (EFRC n. 10).
“Never stop praying for peace!” This is the message from the Legionary priests and consecrated women from the communities in Jerusalem and Magdala. The Holy Father has also exhorted us once again to prayer, calling it “the gentle and holy strength we have to combat hatred.” His exhortation, directed to all believers, is to “take one side in this conflict: that of peace.” (Pope Francis, October 18, 2023)
The Regnum Christi has always been characterized by supporting the initiatives of our shepherds, and with special love and affection, those of the bishops and the Holy Father. As the General Governing Council, we want to invite you to dedicate our prayer and endeavor, begging the Lord for the change of men's hearts and for the gift of peace.
We want to invite you all to join those who suffer amidst the scourge of war by supporting them “with our prayer and our total dedication” (Francis, October 18, 2023), and by concretely joining the Day of Prayer, Fasting, and Penance for Peace that the Holy Father has Called for Friday, October 27.
We ask Christ, Prince of Peace, that His Kingdom come amidst these circumstances, in our lives, and in our hearts.
With our prayers and sacrifices for peace,
General Directorate Board and assisting laypeople
