Gospel of the day (to guide your meditation)
From the Holy Gospel according to John 1:35-42
At that time John the Baptist was with two of his disciples, and he looked at Jesus as he passed by and said, “This is the Lamb of God. When the two disciples heard these words, they followed Jesus, and when he turned to them, and saw that they were following him, he asked them, ”What do you seek?“ They replied, ”Where do you live, Rabbi?“ (Rabbi means ”teacher‘). He said to them, ’Come and see.“.
So they went and saw where he lived and stayed with him that day. It was about four o'clock in the afternoon. Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, was one of the two who heard what John the Baptist said and followed Jesus. The first one Andrew met was his brother Simon, and he said to him, “We have found the Messiah” (which means ‘the anointed one’). He brought him to where Jesus was, and Jesus looked at him and said to him, “You are Simon, son of John. You shall be called Kephas” (which means Peter, that is, ‘rock’).

Meditate on what God tells you in the Gospel
Estás a orillas del río Jordán. Es un día de sol. Tú y Andrés están hablando con Juan el Bautista. De pronto, tu maestro se calla y mira hacia el camino. Un hombre alto y joven va pasando. ¿Qué sucede? Juan habla en voz baja, casi temblorosa: Éste es el Cordero de Dios… Andrés va y lo sigue. ¿Qué sientes al verlo pasar? ¿Vas con Él? Puedes hablar de esto con Jesús. Tal vez lo seguiste. Él entonces se para y se gira. Te mira a los ojos. ¿Qué buscas? Señor, me conoces. Tú sabes qué quiero y qué siento… Hoy quiero dejarte que toques mi alma.
«Y para aquellos dos es la “iluminación”. Dejan a su primer maestro y siguen la secuela de Jesús. En el camino, Él se gira hacia ellos y hace la pregunta decisiva: “¿Qué buscáis?”. Jesús aparece en los Evangelios como un experto en el corazón humano. En aquel momento había encontrado a dos jóvenes en búsqueda, sanamente inquietos. De hecho, ¿qué juventud es una juventud satisfecha, sin una pregunta de sentido? Los jóvenes que no buscan nada no son jóvenes, están jubilados, han envejecido antes de tiempo. Es triste ver a jóvenes jubilados… Y Jesús, a través de todo el Evangelio, en todos los encuentros que tiene a lo largo del camino aparece como un «incendiario» de los corazones. De ahí, aquella pregunta suya que busca hacer emerger el deseo de vida y de felicidad que cada joven lleva dentro: “¿Qué buscas?”. También yo quisiera hoy preguntar a los jóvenes que están aquí en la plaza y a los que escuchan desde los medios de comunicación: “Tú, que eres joven, ¿qué buscas? ¿Qué buscas en tu corazón?”.»

Jesús, hoy Tú me has salido al encuentro. Algunas cosas se han movido en mi interior. ¿Qué pasó hoy en mi alma? Ayúdame a ver lo que quieres que vea. Haz que te deje ser tierno conmigo. Ayúdame a saber recibir tus regalos. María, ayúdame a abrirle mi alma a Jesús y a mis hermanos.
