The Encyclical «Dilexit nos» in the light of the Theology of the Saints

On March 20, the Faculty of Theology of the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum will hold a study day dedicated to deepening our understanding of Pope Francis« encyclical »Dilexit nos" on the Sacred Heart of Jesus. In continuity with the reflections begun last year, the meeting aims to offer a reading that integrates the spiritual tradition and the present-day mission: how has devotion to the Heart of Christ been received and incarnated over the centuries? What light does this encyclical bring today to the life and mission of Regnum Christi? From this double perspective - theological and charismatic - the study day proposes to return to the center: the personal love of Christ who sustains and sends.

The theme is entitled «The Encyclical on the Sacred Heart of Jesus". «Dilexit nos» in the light of the Theology of the Saints and the spirituality of Regnum Christi» and will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. (Rome time) in the Master Classroom of the Athenaeum and can be followed both in person and online.

The living memory of the saints

Through the interventions of experts and teachers, the day will cover the spiritual tradition of the Church, from the medieval theology of St. Bonaventure to the luminous witness of St. Therese of Lisieux and Charles de Foucauld. The spiritual experience of St. Ignatius of Loyola, St. John of the Cross, St. Margaret Mary Alacoque and St. Claude de la Colombière will also be explored, showing how contemplation of the Heart of Jesus has shaped concrete paths of holiness and mission.

From «he loved us» to mission sending

One of the key moments will be a reflection on the historical development of devotion to the Sacred Heart in the Legion of Christ and Regnum Christi, as well as its expression in the daily life of those associated with Regnum Christi. The introductory talk, «From Dilexit nos to Dilexit te», will underline precisely this personal dimension: the passage from the recognition of Christ's love to the concrete response of each one.

Those who wish to know the detailed program can consult it on the official website of the Athenaeum. The meeting will be held in Italian and will have simultaneous translation into English and Spanish for those who connect through the Internet. Zoom. The recording will be available later on the official YouTube channel of the Ateneo.

The invitation is addressed to students, academics and people who wish to deepen their understanding of a theme that touches the core of our faith: the love of the Heart of Jesus, source of communion and mission for the Church and for Regnum Christi.
